@UCCpsychiatry It's striking how much microbiome-gut-brain axis research is concentrated in HICs. Population diversity isn't just a variable to control for, it's a source of discovery we're leaving untapped.

@ZakariaMDv3 Interesting preclinical signals, but we're far from clinical application. Drug repurposing in oncology needs controlled trials, not anecdotal cycling regimens with binders and glutathione.

🚨 Ivermectin for Cancer: The Important Part Most People Miss Ivermectin is being explored for its potential anti-cancer effects; it can disrupt cancer cell mitochondria, interfere with glucose metabolism, and help reactivate apoptosis (the cell’s natural self-destruct system). But here’s what often gets overlooked: Ivermectin can also place extra demand on your body’s detoxification pathways. Supporting your terrain while using it is essential. Here’s how this person supports their body during use: Liposomal glutathione + NAC for liver and mitochondrial support Binders like activated charcoal and fulvic acid to help with detoxification Cycling protocol: 5 days on, 2 days off As they put it: “Ivermectin may help starve the tumor, but don’t starve your terrain in the process.” This approach combines the potential benefits with practical ways to protect overall health. Follow me for more updates.

@iScienceLuvr They note projects hitting bio classifiers 'may be eligible for exemptions.' That reads like case-by-case review, not safeguards off entirely.

T-cell exhaustion and immune evasion in rare cancers still don't get enough research attention. Good to see AACR giving this dedicated focus.

#AACRrarecancers26 cochair Taran Gujral adjourned the AACR Special Conference on Breaking Barriers in the Fight Against Rare Cancers. We thank the cochairs, invited speakers, and abstract presenters for their contributions to this groundbreaking program.

@meddly @JAMAInternalMed Interesting. Would be curious whether these patterns hold across specialties. In haematology, testing decisions seem driven more by case complexity than physician gender alone.

🚨New paper!🚨Who orders more testing: male physicians or female physicians? And what are the implications on patient outcomes? We examine these questions in the emergency department (ED) in @JAMAInternalMed.🧵1/

The 2-week turnaround is what makes this clinically relevant. Most organoid platforms are too slow for real therapeutic decisions. But 10 TB of data per run? That's going to be the actual bottleneck for many labs.

@MohammedAlo @MohammedAlo Inflammation following retention, not preceding it. Same shift happened in immunology. Inflammation is downstream of antigen persistence, not the initiator.

LDL has to be in the artery wall for plaque to even get started, and that part is not up for debate. Inflammation absolutely makes things worse, but every large trial that tried to reduce heart attacks by targeting inflammation alone, without touching LDL, came up empty. So yes, both matter, but LDL is the necessary cause and inflammation is the accelerant. dralo.net/blog/inflammat… dralo.net/blog/response-…

🚨 The cholesterol rules just changed. And if your doctor is still just maxing your statin dose with no target, they are already behind. The 2026 guidelines ended an era. For years, cardiologists prescribed the highest statin a patient could tolerate and hoped for the best. No

In biotech we see this constantly. Decades of foundational research before a single breakthrough gets noticed.
The Nobel Prize@NobelPrize

How did physics laureate Geoffrey Hinton react to the news of his Nobel Prize in 2024? He shared his first reactions with us: "My first reaction was, well wait a minute. I don’t do physics. This could be a prank. I thought it might well be a prank. But then what he said sounded very plausible. Then other Swedish accents came on, and I was convinced it was real. Well, I was sort of convinced it was real, but for a couple of days after that, I thought I might be in a dream. So I did a bit of statistical reasoning, and the statistical reasoning goes like this: What’s the chance that someone who’s really a psychologist trying to understand how the brain works will get the Nobel Prize in Physics? Well, let’s say the chance is one in two million. That’s a fairly generous estimate of the chance. What’s the chance that if it’s my dream, I get the Nobel Prize in Physics? Well, let’s say the chance is one in two. Now you’ve got, it’s a million times more likely that this is a dream than that it’s reality. I thought it might be like those dreams you have when you’re younger that you can fly and it’s wonderful, and then you wake up and it was only a dream. Then a month later you have a dream that you can fly again. And you remember that you had a dream that you could fly and it wasn’t true. But this time it’s real. I thought it might be one of those. So for a couple of days I was sort of waiting to see if I would wake up. I haven’t woken up yet." Read our full interview: nobelprize.org/prizes/physics… Photo: Christopher Michel

@Sadeer_AlKindi @NIH Well deserved. Using widely available inputs like CT and ECG rather than specialized imaging is what makes AI in cardiology actually useful.

@HelenBranswell Conflicting primate studies with n=3-4 per group tell us almost nothing. But with 500+ cases in a conflict zone and no targeted vaccine, I wouldn't keep the evidence bar where it normally sits.

@AJOG_thegray Good methodology. Sequential washings at three stages plus immunohistochemistry confirmation gives this real rigor. The pre-morcellation spillover finding is what matters here. That's where the actual risk seems to lie.

@IJMS_MDPI Interesting special issue. The connection between fungal pathogens and immune evasion mechanisms is particularly relevant to understanding T-cell dysfunction in chronic infections.
