Colorado introduced a 6.5% "sin tax" on guns and ammo to raise money. What did this do? Well, I just bought a rifle in another state (yes, with a 3-day wait, after background check still) but I only had to pay 7.25% sales tax instead of the 16% I would have paid here with sales & sin tax. Way to go #Colorado, you really didn't think this through when you argued for this as a means to raise money.

But on HB26-1302, gun grabber Boesnecker is joined by Representative Anthony Hartsook, a Republican, which makes it harder to dismiss this bill as routine partisan legislation and begs the question of why a Republican is putting their name on gun control in a state where Republicans make up the minority? And this is not @RepHartsook 's first attempt this year to use the CBI as the mechanism to enact gun control. An earlier bill of his, HB26-1108, also impacted gun owners through administrative means. 🚨A serious message from the Colorado Federal Firearms Licensee Association (CFFLA)🚨 HB26-1126 — "Requirements for Firearms Dealers" — has been sitting on House General Orders since March 5. We just received word it is being taken up for Second Reading TOMORROW, March 19. This bill would require every licensed firearms dealer in Colorado to install: • Bars, grates, or security screens on every exterior door and window • Commercial-grade metal doors • Interior lighting to surveillance-camera standards (no lux standard defined — DOR decides later) • A security alarm system with video surveillance connected directly to local law enforcement • A comprehensive security plan submitted to DOR Fines for a second violation: up to $100,000. What does this cost? • Home-based FFL (78.7% of Colorado dealers): approximately $79,000 • Small storefront: approximately $28,500 • Large retail store: approximately $49,400 For a home-based dealer making $30,000–$60,000 a year, this bill demands 132–263% of their entire gross revenue — just to stay in business. The legislature's fiscal note identifies $0 in private compliance costs for dealers. Zero. Dollars. 41 Colorado FFLs have closed in the last three months. 80.5% were home-based. Zero new commercial dealers have entered the market. This bill will accelerate that collapse. Colorado anti gunners are not only attacking the gun owner, but the access to firearms by over regulating Colorado Federal Firearms Licensees. All hands on deck. Tag every gun organization.
