Under the theme “Rights, Justice, Action: For All Women and Girls,” we reject inequality as inevitable. Justice demands that we close opportunity gaps through deliberate action, expanding access, strengthening mentorship, and building pathways to leadership. #IWD2026 #ForAllWomenAndGirls #BridgeTheGap

At the High-Level Dialogue on rethinking Africa’s financial model, Dr. Helen Kezie Nwoha, Chairperson of GIMAC, reaffirmed one clear message: We cannot finance development without financing gender justice. Her presentation of the GIMAC Recommendations emphasized: ✔️ Ring-fenced and flexible gender-responsive WASH financing ✔️ Dedicated climate windows for underserved & conflict-affected communities ✔️ Institutionalized women & youth leadership ✔️ Intersectional sex-disaggregated data ✔️ Gender-responsive budgeting & accountability frameworks From aid to impact means centering women, youth, and dignity in every financial decision. #GenderTransformativeWASH #GIMAC #AU

She concluded that governance reforms must institutionalise women’s and youth leadership through quotas, capacity building, and social accountability tools anchored in gender-responsive budgeting, disability-inclusive indicators, and safe sanitation for women and girls.

Dr. Nwoha further called for participatory, gender-justice research and routine, intersectional sex-disaggregated data to inform women- and youth-led solutions, with progress tracked through annual public reporting by the African Union Gender Observatory #AUSummit39

It was truly a delight for #GIMAC to participate in the High-Level Breakfast Meeting on Financing and Reaffirming Africa’s Gender Commitments at Skylight Hotel. GIMAC was represented by its Chairperson, Dr. Helen Kezie Nwoha, who carried forward the momentum and key recommendations from the just concluded 42nd GIMAC Consultative Meeting, ensuring that the voices, priorities, and demands of African women and girls are translated into concrete commitments, accountable financing, and measurable action. As conversations move from reaffirmation to resource allocation, GIMAC remains clear: gender equality commitments must be funded, institutionalized, and implemented. #GIMAC #GenderEquality #FinancingForGender #AU #WomenLead

As GIMAC, sustaining this momentum means moving decisively from commitment to implementation. Building on the outcomes of the just-concluded ??#42GIMAC, we are focused on following through with concrete, actionable strategies that continue to shape and advance gender- and youth-inclusive priorities for sanitation and WASH across Africa, ensuring that policy decisions translate into measurable impact at community level.

Last evening we wrapped up an inspiring day at the @AU_ECOSOCC Pre summit, where we were part of the closing plenary, contributing to key reflections and shaping actionable priorities for gender- and youth-inclusive sanitation across Africa. The session brought together ECOSOCC leadership, civil society, and strategic partners to consolidate insights, highlight good practices, and outline pathways for multi-stakeholder collaboration beyond 2026. We are proud to have played a role in turning dialogue into coordinated action, reinforcing Africa-led solutions for sustainable water and sanitation. #WaterSecurity #SafeSanitation #WASH #WaterGovernance #AUSummit

From women who crossed borders to be present, to youth and diaspora networks translating policy into people-centered advocacy, reparatory justice lives beyond dialogue. Healing, restitution, and accountability are not abstract ideals, they are collective demands rooted in solidarity. As GIMAC affirms, transformation begins when communities insist on justice. #42GIMAC #ECOSOCC #AUSummit39 #WASH #GenderJustice

📍 GIMAC at the ECOSOCC Pre Summit, held on the sidelines of the African Union Summit contributing to Session Three: Partnerships and Multi-Stakeholder Engagement for Implementation. Dr Helen Kezie Nwoha, The GIMAC Chairperson, delivered a clear message. “We don’t lack frameworks; we lack coordination, inclusion, and sustained investment. Without civil society, especially women and women with disabilities, accountability cannot work“. GIMAC reaffirmed that breaking silos, centering non-state actors, and strengthening multi-stakeholder partnerships are essential to translating the AU Theme of the Year 2026 on sustainable water and sanitation into real, measurable impact for women, girls, and communities. #42GIMAC #ECOSOCC #AUSummit39 #WASH #GenderJustice #Partnerships #Accountability
