I implored the IOC to see sense for years – I am relieved that it finally has. A few personal reflections on today’s news within this wider piece telegraph.co.uk/olympics/2026/…

Has Helen or other DA leaders said anything about the water problem at the Cape Town International Airport, or is that the purview on national government unlike ORT that’s the responsibility of the mayor of Johannesburg?

What we have here is not men competing against women. Trans women and girl athletes take drugs to limit their ability, it's the opposite of an athlete who takes (steroids) to be unfair. Transgender Women on Hormone Therapy Show No Inherent Athletic Advantage, Major Review Finds. A new large-scale scientific review suggests that transgender women who undergo gender-affirming hormone therapy do not have greater physical fitness advantages compared with c_sgender women. The meta-analysis, published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine, combined results from 52 studies involving nearly 6,500 participants, including around 2,900 transgender women. Researchers examined key measures such as muscle strength, aerobic capacity, fat mass, and lean body mass. After one to three years of hormone therapy, transgender women showed comparable strength and endurance to c_sgender women when results were adjusted for height. Although slightly higher lean mass was observed, it did not translate into improved performance markers like maximal oxygen consumption. Experts caution that the study did not focus on elite athletes, meaning conclusions cannot be directly applied to Olympic-level competition. Still, researchers argue that if large intrinsic advantages existed, they would likely appear even in non-athletic populations — and they did not. The findings challenge arguments used to justify blanket bans on transgender women and girls in sports. Scientists involved emphasise that athletic performance is shaped by many factors beyond biology, including training access, psychological stress, and discrimination. As global sports organisations, including the International Olympic Committee, consider stricter eligibility rules, this review provides some of the strongest evidence so far against claims of unavoidable physical advantage. “There’s no reason to ban us from playing”: Analysis debunks notion that transgender women have inherent physical advantages in sports (Feb. 2026), based on research published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine. bjsm.bmj.com/content/60/3/1…

'They can go in their own categories!' @Nanaakua1 and Peter Tatchell and Nana Akua go back and forth over the IOC banning biological males from women's sports.

@Jonathan_Witt Dude, have you forgotten Ramaphoria in 2016-2017? Peter Bruce was the biggest supporter of that. Rumors suggest he was paid, but those are just rumors.

The IOC didn’t just target trans women with this decision: They opened the door to policing all women’s bodies.
