@aedison Your current heat wave is not a heat wave in the US. It is a normal day it got to 90 today and was cold for may with 50-90% humidity. Brits are just weak.

just saw someone claim europeans shouldn’t complain about this heatwave because historically summers there are very mild, which is such a perfectly self-contradicting thought it may as well be two mirrors reflecting a single brain cell back and forth to each other for infinity

"Banter" is a strange concept. Brits pretend it means "making dark jokes at someone else's expense", but it obviously can't mean that, because when Americans try and join in on the "banter", they suddenly get extremely mad and defensive
Neffaw@sigma485849

@MilesTrav Yeah it's British culture it's called banter. We take the piss out of our own friends mate it's called a joke. Indians say that shit seriously. The second quote is true though why are you building such weak houses in areas prone to tornadoes??

Americans cannot comprehend that Europeans arent complaining about the heat because they have no idea ACs exist but because of global warming It's always an American that believes climate change doesn't exist or just simply someone lacking reading comprehension. American values.

@revoexpress Coming from someone born in Michigan and have been all over the state and now live in South Carolina. You do not know what you’re talking about. “Walking outside is like walking into your dogs mouth” is an accurate statement about southern humidity.

Shepherd denounces everything with fire
One thing I see is peoplefrom the US saying you haven't seen hot until you been in 100 degree (F) weather... I'd like to invite you to come frame houses in MI in August. We may not reach 100 most summers, but 90 with swamp ass levels of humidity is horrible.

@TruthOof @SwallowBug11 That's about 29.5 C, by the way. It's pretty nice out. South Florida. We may be spastic, but we're not unable to handle some heat and humidity. Tangential question: Did you know more people die in Europe annually from heat than die in America from firearms?

@HaugerEnjoyer Let have you defend the metric system then. Why have you not fully adopted the metric system if it is so great? Why do you still have 7 day weeks and 60 second minutes? According to metric system weeks are supposed to be 10 days and minutes are supposed to have 100 seconds.

Really, the Europeans goofed by invoking tornadoes in their ongoing stupid-off with the USAians over air conditioning, simply because it perfectly illustrates the differences in cultures. Sure, the US has always had tornadoes. In response, the USAians dug storm shelters, improved building codes, set up alert sirens and networks, ensured schools and other municipal buildings can serve as shelters themselves, established one national center with 122 regional offices (and a dedicated laboratory supporting all of them) to better predict and track tornadoes, and turned those monsters into a fairly successful entertainment franchise. All of this resulted in fatalities from tornadoes dropping from "700+ for an individual twister" to "not even 100 for an entire season". On the other manipulator, Europe has been experiencing "unseasonal" heat waves for at least the past ten orbits. In response, they have done... nothing, and actively, vociferously, and borderline-viciously oppose doing anything at all, even something as simple as spending <€500 on a personal level to ameliorate the situation. This has resulted in them losing up to 175,000 people an orbit due to heat-related deaths. The disparity between mentalities - and which one proves to be more successful over time - could not be more clear.

@O_h_G_o_s_h We have much colder weather here as well some places have 40 Celsius in the summer and -20 in the winter. A lot of central ac systems have both heating and cooling functionality (packaged systems).

Do europeans without AC run dehumidifiers instead when its hot and humid or does everything just stay moist

@GoodFaith_Actor @briggityboppity 2/2 is significantly more oppressive. Look at Dew points vs humidity if you want to know how wet the air is going to feel

@clarkentamine So you can understand, you do not use the entire metric system to do so would be idiotic, no one uses 100 second minutes, or 10 day weeks. Our PETROL costs 1.17 per litre with the prices going down, it will get back down to around .53 per litre by the next year.

@GoodFaith_Actor @briggityboppity It’s is humid in Europe it’s just a different kind of humidity than what we experience in the us. They’re experiencing relative vs the absolute we experience here
