We are taking the kids(13 & 10) to NYC for the first time. What should we do, and where should we go?…. We are looking for fantastic food, a Broadway show, bakeries, fun stores etc. Any ideas welcome! #NYC

@OurDailyBears Mack put his head on the chopping block with this decision. If things don't go well, both Dave and Mack should go.

@DKThomp @jean_twenge Or if you think about it, makes perfect sense. All of these fell dramatically at the beginning of the Great Recession. Adults taking service jobs b/c they needed them, so no work. No Work --> No Money --> No Dating, No Alcohol, No Car

It’s mostly cringe for middle aged people to gawk at general changes in younger generations, but the anti-socialization of childhood in America is really a stunning thing to see all at once. ht @jean_twenge

@beckarabecka @RockCat75 @busaf95 @JWMediaDC @Savannaheer88 And ultimately this is why Stanford and Cal will drop football and join the WCC. In the next decade, both athletic programs will degrade due to this. Neither bring enough value to the ACC while it's still intact. The B1G needs to keep powder dry for UNC and UVA.

Becky they would likely put the Olympic sports in the WCC. For two reasons, one being location and two being they are not fans of the B12 (for whatever reason)
Becky Go Huskies!@BeckyGoHuskies

@JWMediaDC I told people that Washington would never join the Big12. They didn’t and thought about it until the B1G called. Stanford though may have to join the Big12 just for their Olympic sports to compete.

@KenSEvans @ByPatForde Only if they are willing to accept the Big 12 as there personal savior. Inside joke as both Cal and Stanford refused to allow TCU or Baylor into the PAC-12.

Arizona State AD Ray Anderson discussing move to Big 12: "I promise I'm not going to Morgantown. I'm going to sign that to (deputy AD) Jean Boyd. He can go to Morgantown. But send me to Texas & the rivalry w/Arizona & starting a new one w/BYU, Utah & Colorado"

@TimBrando @pac12 Get'em Tim! When OUT struck, the 8 left stuck together b/c similar values. PAC-12 had too many diverging, 2 SoCal carrying the water, 2 NoCal that disdained any other than Ivies, 2 PNW wanting to be national powers, and an ASU Prez who disdained athletics. This is why we're here

A story like todays was bound to give many wonderful scribes license to blame Network 📺 all the blame for the presumed demise of the @PAC12. Since it’s inception electronic🎙️ media was a nuisance to sportswriters. Media’s evolved and many writers have joined us in TV. Don’t get me wrong TV’s influence plays a significant role, but to think we initiate every change is painting with far too wide a brush. @slmandel struck a chord for me with this effort. Leadership has never been more important, no matter the business we’re discussing. 👇

Sadly, inconceivably, the proud Pac-12 Conference passed from this earth Friday. There will surely be many weepy eulogies written in the coming days and weeks. This is not that column. theathletic.com/4748641/2023/0…

@slmandel That would be the school President. He has zero power in his new conference, however, it was his guidance and support of Scott and not wanting to react to the env that led to this. He can step down, but his Board was in no way going to be left with Stanford and Cal.

@JWMediaDC Whomever your source is should be very cautious about making statements like those. College athletics is bound by Anti-Trust laws and you could definitely construe those statements as anti-competitive.

A highly placed B1G Source told me last night -- IF ASU and Utah stay in the P12, 11, 10, 9, 8 - they will back off expansion to see if they sign the GoR with at least 8 teams voting to stay.

@jasonscheer I have to wonder as it relates to Crow is this about what's best for ASU or what's best for Crow? In th PAC, he is a big dog, in the Big 12 he seemingly has no power.

Lot of rumors going on right now, hard to confirm and we won't know the truth for a few more hours. One of the rumors is Oregon State and Washington State taking cuts that would go directly to Oregon and Washington basically.

@Kellblog Not to the be the asshole in the room, but there is not one thing in there on helping an AE get to quota and so much to ensure that orgs limit variable comp. Reads like the IBM playbook and Enterprise AE is still one of the toughest jobs out there.

@TimBrando @espn @SEC The move Yormack made to early renew the B12 was a great move at the time; it's now starting to look like the move of the century as the PAC sucks wind trying to find a deal.

Something else to think about with the reality that @espn wouldn’t pony up 💰for a 9th game. The upcoming cuts at The WorldWide Leader which most @SEC people are clearly oblivious to are going to be significant. According to published reports they will happen over June & July.

@HeismanThe @TimBrando @espn @SEC Fans may want it, but the ADs still fill the stadium and the coaches get an easy win. If ESPN doesn't want to pay for it (and has its own money issues), there isn't a compelling business reason to add the additional game. The SEC can always use it in the next negotiation.
