The crews in the age of sail were significantly larger, better social interaction. And even then, there were occasional intermezzos on distant shores. You are not completely off, but I think the order of magnitude here is different.

@FSlazer It seems a very heavy handed solution for boredom, especially over timescales over which we already know humans can handle isolation. Sailors in the age of exploration handled much worse.

@peterrhague You can, but you need to go with a more elaborate approach and delegate specific subtasks towards dedicated agents to keep them focused.
Research, plan, implementation are usually handled separately. You will have to figure your ideal split.

I’m working on something, that I’m not quite ready to go public with yet. It’s come about through essentially “scratching my own itch” at work and realising I may have something generally applicable.
Obviously I’m having AI help me build it, but an actually complex project indicates to me that pure vibe coding isn’t quite there yet - and maybe it doesn’t get there. I still have to take charge of it to stop it making daft architectural choices.

You can also copy straight over ssh (cat file|ssh remote "cat >destfile"
Or rsync. But disable compression if your file is already compressed. Your result really makes no sense.

Over a fast thunderbolt 5 link you can transfer tens of GB in 2 minutes, with a Python script, or in 30 minutes with scp... This is a mix of many inefficiencies, it's not encryption overhead. Would be cool to have more decent tooling: security is often an excuse for bad things.

That project has to pass a vote in the Senate which is the decision maker for this to become law. It doesn't seem likely to pass and some law experts are saying that it is not even compliant with the constitution. This is a hot air balloon.
