This isn't awe-inspiring. I'm not going to say things are awful right now, because I'm not doom obsessed, but things are not great. Things HAVE improved, though.
If this is the Golden Age, I'd be pretty depressed.
Much of my nation is unrecognizable as America. Our greatest cities are unsafe and riddled with filth and the detritus of the broken American dream scattered across the street.
Our government taxes us to death to pay for nothing. We are headed into a full on surveillance state and the left are poised for extreme violence while the right still thinks just one more election will fix the country.
We're a far cry from the Golden Age.

In case you were wondering, USAID used to buy some $2-3 billion dollars of American agricultural products every year to export to poorer nations. Essentially DOGE killed one of the biggest farm subsidiaries for America's factory farms.

I get my Social Security deposit on the 4th Wednesday of every month. I checked my account this morning and since I turn 65 this month, they deducted $203 for Medicare. So my question is this: Why is the government charging me for something that I already spent my whole adult life paying for? What a scam. 🤬

I never got the whole “women love to yap” thing. Men consistently talk more than women, talk louder than women, talk over women, etc etc.
Listen to any mixed-company conversation for more than two minutes, and you’ll see that it’s really the men who love yapping.

An elite east cost prep school like Dalton, Horace Mann or Milton Academy is around 25% black and Hispanic and mixed race and 20% Asian today. Give or take, this is what all the elite prep and boarding schools look like on the east coast.

Yes. They’ve been doing it for a long time, but now more people than ever are going to therapy.
When I was 19, back in 2008, I got a new therapist who introduced me to the idea that abuse could also be “emotional” or “psychological,” not just physical or sexual, and convinced me that my parents were abusive. We didn’t speak again until 2013, five years later, when my mom was diagnosed with cancer.
We’re very close now, but I can’t get that time back with them, nor can I undo the bad decisions I made while trying to navigate young adulthood on my own.
Now I’m very critical of trauma narratives. The concept creep of “trauma” and “abuse” has expanded those terms so much that any flaws or mistakes on your parents’ part are increasingly recast as forms of harm that cause irreparable damage, making them an easy scapegoat for any dissatisfaction you have in your life.
