@draftcheat There’s something fishy but think it’s scalpers, it’s sold out in every imax and Dolby here (not even 70mm imax) for every showing for the next 3 weeks which doesn’t line up at all with the BO so far. both times i went there were sold out with at least 20 open seats

@TheChrisLambert Think my least favorite part of the movie was cramming the sirens the whirlpool and Scylla into one 4-5 minute highlight reel while spending longer than that doing exit interviews with sinon and agamemnon on a black sand beach in Iceland that’s supposed to be hell

Was Scylla’s design in the movie kind of uninspired?

One scene I wish Nolan hadn’t rushed… Scylla. In Homer’s Odyssey, this isn’t just another monster attack. It’s one of the most heartbreaking moments in the entire epic. Odysseus watches helplessly as Scylla snatches six of his finest men, one in each head’s jaws. They scream his name… Reach their hands toward him… And are carried into the cave to be devoured alive. Homer even says it was the most horrifying sight Odysseus witnessed in all his travels. Odysseus arms himself, hoping for a chance to fight… But there isn’t one. He can only watch. In Nolan’s version, however, Odysseus quickly joins the crew in rowing through the strait, and the sequence moves on much faster. It left me wondering… Would this scene have hit much harder if Nolan had stayed closer to Homer’s emotional weight? Or was keeping the pace moving the right decision for a modern audience

@travbryanmusic i honestly believe that’s ownership league wide just being cheap. and again.. a defending champion spending a little extra money to keep a championship team together whole is not that big of a deal. it really only is detrimental when you’re over 3 out of 5 years

The Knicks should get Cissi on Tuesday night. Dallas currently has 15 players on guaranteed standard contracts. If they match Dallas would be forced to cut or trade a player on a fully guaranteed deal right now just to clear space for their third or fourth-string center. Unlikely

There are subversions in the movie, to be sure, but these are consistently on the superficial level. Agamemnon's armor design is ridiculous, but it doesn't change the story. Helen's scars are not in the original, but again, this is just dressing. The use of a few people who do not pass as Greek is also a subversion. I mean, one could argue that people from other parts of the ancient world have come to Greece, so someone might argue it's plausible, but for me, the casting is a problem overall, not because it dishonors Homer's poem, but because it reduces the suspension of disbelief and causes dissonance that negatively affects the tone and distracts from the story. This miscasting is across the board, including all skin colors. Matt Damon is a fine actor, but I had a hard time listening to his American accent and accepting who he was supposed to be. John Leguizamo was also miscast. Charlize Theron. Several others. It really seemed to me that Nolan chose all of his friends, or actors he thinks are the hot thing right now, in the hope that they would be a box office draw. This is not how to cast a movie like this, in my opinion.

If the club signs a center to a veteran’s minimum contract, New York would not have enough room under the second apron to sign either Tyler Nickel or Kayil to contract via second round exception. Entering free agency, the plan for Kayil was to spend next season with his overseas club. The Knicks can obviously alter those plans by offering him an NBA contract, but as noted above, they are limited by the second apron. New York could offer Kayil or Nickel a two-way contract for next season. But in this scenario, New York would be prohibited from paying Kayil’s buyout from his German club. The buyout has to be executed between the player and his overseas team. The Knicks can offer Nickel a two-way contract without this limitation. In the two-way scenario, the Knicks could convert either Kayil or Nickel to a standard contract once the pro-rated amount fits under the second apron."

Dolan put such a stench on that franchise that he really turned New York fuckin City of all places into an undesirable location for NBA players. Now that Leon Rose has established a winning culture there,we’re seeing role players who are willing to be there for cheap like we’ve seen them do in the past for winning franchises in desirable locations like Miami, LA, and the Bay. Knicks might just have to hang Leon Rose’s suit jacket in the rafters too.
