The Edmonton Oilers have never checked and forechecked like the 2023 and 2026 Golden Knights, the 2024 and 2025 Panthers, or the 2026 Hurricanes. That’s the next step for Edmonton in my opinion.

@citchmook I don't really want to be negative when Wedgewood wasn't bad, but he was not good enough either. He was like the rest of the team very mid.. he was very even with hart in high danger saves, its the couple of low/mid danger goals agains that was the main difference

Scott Wedgewood simply got outplayed by the guy on the other end. Credit where credit is due, Carter Hart posted an insane series, save percentage no less than .947 in three of four games, Wedgwood had a save percentage above .889 only once. Goaltending failed.

Colorado Avalanche should of never traded Mikko Rantanen. He was a beast in the playoffs and Necas is good but he's not the moose in the playoffs. Just my opinion.

Finally caught up with the game. Tough loss. Colorado played solid, held a 1-0 lead almost all game but gave it up in the second half of the third and showed no desire to tie. Stupid mistakes, beating themselves and are now facing a 0-2 deficit. Series is still winnable, win it.

1. Goalie: Gustavsson, Levi, Cossa 2. Trade Nurse 3. Top 6F: J. Robertson, McCann, Perfetti, McMicheal, Maccelli 4. Re-sign Murphy, Lazar, Dickinson, Dach, Stastney These are what I would do. Some is easier to do than others. These are the players I would look at.

I agree with hiring a new coach. Why? The Oilers gave up significantly more Grade A shots this past year than they did in Knoblauch's first season. No progress was made on team defence. In fact, it's trending the other direction. Can a new coach fix that? Worth a shot.

How much evaluation of Oilers top to bottom do we need, especially coach Kris Knoblauch whose 3 year extension starts this fall? It is 9 days since post playoff presser. Knoblauch is twisting in wind. No public vote of confidence, no were making a change. We don’t need new coach

@ChumLine I feel Martin Jones is a good comparison to Skinner, both very inconsistent and let in very weak goal to often.

Playoff failures of McDavid and Draisaitl remind that of Thornton, Marleau, Pavelski. No explanation other than unfortunate bounces. Crazy how stacked Sharks teams were in 2010s. Couture one of best playoff performers.

Sorry, I don't buy the "It is hard to get a goalie" scenario. Sure it is hard, but far from impossible. Good scouting helps. Ask the Flyers. Dan Vladar at $3.35m has paid off HUGE for them. Oilers need to be better at scouting goalies.

Regardless of OT goal, Oilers blew another two goal lead. They are 1-3 when scoring first. The other 15 playoff teams are 19-8. Blown leads are killing them. They allowed two goals in the second period and have been outscored 9-4 in the middle stanza. Had a lead in the third and couldn't hold it. Can't hold leads, can't PK and getting thrashed in the second period.

Three Quick Thoughts...beyond the winner. 1. Jarry played better than I expected. 2. The Ducks look faster and clearly look like the team that wants it more. 3. McDavid and Draisaitl look gassed for the most part. What you got tonight?

If any team can come back 3-1 down, it's the #Oilers, but this team looks tired and broken down. I hope they do it, but if they don't, I'd love to see them retain Murphy and Dickinson this summer. And please for the love of Pete, get a no.1 goalie. Like, a real proper one.

The #Oilers look like a tired team, physically and mentally. McDavid is clearly injured. Drisaitl is coming of an injury and doesn't look 100% but his line with Podkolzin and Kapanen have been productive. Dickinson, who was brought in to be the 3rd C is injured. 1/4
