In 2020, she supported the creation of the Virginia redistricting commission, calling gerrymandering “detrimental to our democracy.” Now she’s intentionally misleading voters in a dishonest, underhanded ploy to create the MOST EXTREME gerrymander anywhere in the country! Just like her broken promises on affordability and her “Fake Moderate” charade, Spanberger can’t be trusted. She even ordered the department of elections to HIDE the new rigged maps from voters so Virginians don’t know what they’re voting on. This does not “preserve” Virginia’s fair redistricting process - it DESTROYS it!

Your typical voter in an April special is going to be looking at the proposed maps before voting. There's no D or R label on the referendum ballot, so having trained their voters to vote blue no matter who doesn't help that much on this one. When you look at the map, it's obvious these polities are contradictory and nonsensical, won't benefit the people who live in these districts, won't benefit the Commonwealth as a whole, or any part. For the yes side, their only argument is that it will likely result in 4 more Democrat seats in Congress. For the no side, there is a mountain of reasons not to do this - principled arguments against gerrymandering, practical ones about incoherent districts that would be difficult to represent given the vast differences in the regions joined together, and much more. Anyone who is locally focused, regardless of party, gets totally hosed by this map; despite appearances, most politics is still local. But under this map, half the state would have to drive hours into DC metro traffic to get a meeting with their Congressman in his local office. A voter whose political interest is not strictly partisan isn't going to have any reason to approve this plan. Perhaps most crucially, independent voters are being asked to go from king of the hill to the back of the bus, in rigged districts where their opinions no longer matter too much. The referendum is boiling down to hard Ds vs literally everyone else; with a persuasion toolbox empty save for naked partisanship and insulting deceptions, it's going to be a major uphill climb to pull this off no matter how much money they pour into it.

I’m going to say this despite what it will do to me politically - I think the Virginia redistricting is extremely anti-democratic and that it is a reactionary policy to Donald Trump that was created by DC consultants… In 2020, 66% of Virginians voted for bipartisan maps…the new maps slice up Arlington and take away the voice of everyone outside of northern Virginia… In every local democratic committee I’ve been in, when this issue comes up, nobody can defend it, it’s just “well this is what the party says is best.” NO. The Democratic Party loses because of reactionary maneuvers and because it doesn’t have a big bold vision for the future. They say it’s “temporary” but FOUR years of gerrymandering isn’t “temporary” and because I value our constitutional republic over all else… I’ll be voting NO and I encourage everyone else to, but I can’t hold my tongue any longer despite what this will do to me with the Dems in Virginia

Here is my prediction for Trump’s presidency 🇺🇸: They will wait for the midterms, then, if Democrats win overwhelmingly, his own cabinet will 25th Trump and put JD Vance in. That way Democrats won’t be able to impeach him or go after him in criminal courts because he will be declared unable to stand trial due to his insanity. If elections are rigged by the GOP and they win the midterms, they will run Trump as a walking corpse until he falls apart.
