@Spice_002 @83dollaroring To keep the cab as low as possible. Mailmen get in and out of that cab hundreds of times per round.

@83dollaroring If it's electric. why not make it cabover? It'd make the front view even more visible, give more storage space, and make it easier to maneuver.

@DTamm33 @BrodieOnLinux @Burgercadt That's what they argued but that's not what they were motivated by or sought to achieve. Prohibition was entirely motivated by puritanism and was a way to impose their religion/cult on non-believers, which is why they were so obsessively absolutist in it, which is why they failed

Why doesn't Kyon just have a one night stand with Haruhi to have her have enough fun to end the endless eight time loop? Is he stupid?

@BrodieOnLinux @Burgercadt This time *is* different. They're not trying to combat a vice or impose morals, they're simply doing this for public health/economy. Smokers cost the state a lot of money, and banning it will reduce smokers. It doesn't need to be absolute, like prohibition was trying to be.

@Cbat_05 @bee_fumo @luciascarlet Gonna be honest with you. I was absolutely adamant kernel-level anticheat didn't exist for Windows 9x, but given that you posted this over 30 minutes ago, there's a good chance a furry has seen it and already has a PoC running by now.

@_baldtires @macjshiggins There's no economy that has successfully destroyed so much of its own domestic companies' global competitiveness with regulatory overreach (not even capture) as the US. Nuclear, shipbuilding, elevators, drones, the list goes on.

@cnxsoft @ajlamesa It's the marker of effective government, since tap water is basic infrastructure and it directly impacts the health of the population, especially the poorer parts which are more likely to neglect bougie expenditures like "filters" and "regular maintenance".

@ajlamesa I don't quite understand that obsession with drinkable tap water. Where I live, I can't directly drink tap water, but I've installed a filter for $30, plus $12 filter changes every 6 to 9 months.

@WildWiredWeasel @zenartotto3 @SakamotoIchi I have spoken with plenty of people who are only capable of repeating concepts and ideas they've heard before, with no introspection of their own. Setting aside consciousness for a moment, in which way is such a person distinct from an LLM?

Google DeepMind researcher argues that LLMs can never be conscious, not in 10 years or 100 years. "Expecting an algorithmic description to instantiate the quality it maps is like expecting the mathematical formula of gravity to physically exert weight."

@marcel_germann @HSTemile @samperifi @Ne_chloropterus And the Danish. Which makes it a good high-strength alternative for Europlugs where too much weight is placed on the plug for safe operation (which is unfortunately too common with many USB chargers).

@HSTemile @samperifi @Ne_chloropterus The Europlug is a compromise design though, meant to be compatible with multiple standards with varying pin diameters. So to give it that internationality, there must be a weight limit. The legalistic approach is to interpret 2014/35/EU more strictly for CE compliance.

@HSTemile @samperifi @Ne_chloropterus @Chris_OH58D Europlugs (CEE 7/16 A2) are not meant to hold weight, btw. They're designed for thin, light power cords only, the way they're used on USB chargers is in fact violating the standard. If you need holding strength, you should use a CEE 7/17 which conforms to the full socket shape.

@ManchesterF1 @HSTemile @Ne_chloropterus @Chris_OH58D # Things I forgot about - Lack of a compact 2-prong variant (like Europlug). BS 4573 doesn't count (actually a wonderful plug that is plagued by its similarity to Europlug) - Caltrops situation is very memed on, but a more nitpicky person could find actual fault in it
