Hackney has received £20 million to redesign Amhurst Road and Pembury Junction. It will look nicer than it does now. The bus gate on Amhurst Road is welcome and ambitious. Sadly, the rest of the choices prioritise aesthetic over safety, mixing cyclists with buses.

Tottenham screwed with Labour politicians like this. She wants to force children to cycle with HGVs and phone drivers Ditch Labour in Tottenham and vote Green. Utterly shocking policy change from London Labour here and totally against the new guidelines from the government

Well said @MarshadeCordova Disabled people and pedestrians must always be at the top of user priority in Transport Planning. These shouldn’t even exist in 2026 as a concept. @DisabilityActHa

Removing cars from cities is always controversial, but once you're brave enough to do it and witness the improvements, nobody ever looks back.

Did you take part in the recent Queensbridge Rd consultation? You can read a report on the responses here. The Scriven St filter is NOT going ahead. No decision on whether the gap in the southbound cycle track will be filled until May consultation.hackney.gov.uk/streetscene/qu…

@YenSquad @MayorofLondon @willnorman @carowoodley In general, absolutely agree. But in this instance, there is no safe alternative route for cyclists, so it creates a gap in the network. Whereas there are lots of alternative streets that would benefit from outdoor dining

Here at WCC we’re interested in road safety for ALL, so we were intrigued when a new (and bizarrely contentious) kind of crossing started popping up in our borough: the ‘Side Zebra’! There’s only 11 in London and they’re all in Westminster. So what are they and do they work?

@Westminster_LCC This trial location is an interesting choice – the wide angle of the corner in the foreground seems designed to encourage drivers to speed round it. Great to hear how effective the trial was 😀

Is it an anomaly? Horseferry Rd & Regency Pl is another eg (close to the Dept of Transport!). It's close to a taxi rank, causing a lot of U-turns for black cabs, so a good spot for one. So, what did the Westminster survey find? Compliance improved from 35% to 85%! However➡️

Cycleway, my arse! @issaddlethereis.bsky.social
That people think nothing of prioritising public space for empty and unused cars, which are parked 96% of the time (on average), over alternative uses, such as protected cycle tracks for all to use, is the biggest swindle ever carried out by the motor lobby.

Does your cycle network go where you're going? At the upcoming local elections, we'll be challenging candidates to develop a long-term plan: to link Hackney's town centres with safe, enjoyable routes that are separated from motor traffic #StreetsForCycling @London_Cycling

Spring has sprung 🌷 LTNs aren’t just about reducing cars, they’re about giving streets back to people. They cut air pollution, make roads safer for kids, and create quieter, more connected communities where walking and cycling become the easy choice.

We hoped these barriers had gone the way of the dinosaurs – as the guidance says they should – but Hackney wants to install new ones next to London Fields 😢 Please complete the consultation before 23:59 tomorrow, and say NO to exclusionary barriers consultation.hackney.gov.uk/housing-servic…

Did you know bike inner tubes are recyclable? 👀 But the vast majority end up in landfill. Please take a few minutes to complete this survey for a London-based research student on barriers to recycling, and help get the message out qualtricsxmrty76yj9j.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_6o…

This example is unintentionally proving exactly why LTNs are needed. They’re worried that a 0.2k (c6min walk) journey in London, from the bottom of Aubert Park to the top, now requires a 1.8mile diversion (14min drive). For a journey entirely on the same st, walking is an option.
von Kleinburg@roundbarrel

@francesca_kms Here's an example of the stupidity of LTN's....if a someone wants to get from from the bottom of Aubert Park to the top of Aubert Park (let say a delivery) they have to do a 1.8 mile diversion that will take 14 minutes rather than 30 seconds.

December. London. 8.30am (ish) Cyclists as far as the eye can see. Provide safe, accessible routes (segregated cycling lanes, low traffic neighbourhoods) and people will cycle; whatever the season. ☀️⛅️🌧️❄️

We have sought some explanation for the treatment (or lack of treatment) of Lavender Grove from the council, but haven't had an answer, so have to assume it's an oversight. See our website for more detail on the plans: hackneycycling.org.uk/consultation/q…
