Labour did everything to avoid a rape gangs inquiry. Now vital evidence has probably been lost because of needless delays. Why did the Home Office wait SEVEN months before telling authorities to protect records? Find out more from Robbie: x.com/_RobbieMoore/s…
Robbie Moore MP@_RobbieMoore

Over the past 9 months, I have been investigating how the Home Office has been preparing for the national grooming gangs inquiry - and crucially, whether vital evidence has been properly protected. What I’ve found is extremely concerning... In June last year, Baroness Louise Casey recommended a full national inquiry. Her Audit was clear that in the meantime, police forces, councils and authorities across the country should be required not to destroy any records that could be used as evidence. But we now know that didn’t happen. Freedom of Information requests now appear to show the Home Office waited a staggering 212 days - nearly seven months - before formally contacting police forces and other key agencies. Today, the Home Affairs select Committee has written directly to the Home Secretary warning that this 212 failure means that some records critical to the inquiry “might have been destroyed”. That is a staggering failure at the heart of government. I first raised the alarm on this in December, after uncovering that authorities in Bradford had not received any instruction at all from government. Just two days later, newly appointed Chair of the National Inquiry, Baroness Anne Longfield, wrote to the Government reinforcing exactly the same point. Yet even after that warning, it still took another 36 days for the Home Office to act and pass the Chair's message on to authorities. Freedom of information requests show that then-Permanent Secretary Antonio Romeo finally wrote to Home Office-funded Arm’s Length Bodies and Chief Constables across the country on 14 January 2026 - 7 months after the Casey Audit. The government now has serious and unavoidable questions it must answer. - Why was there such a delay? - What kind of records may have been lost? - What are the legal consequences if records have been lost, but the Home Office failed to act? Even now, it remains unclear whether local councils across the country were ever formally contacted at all about the protection of records. Unless the government can provide clear answers to these questions, they risk not only undermining confidence in this process, but failing victims who have already been let down for far too long. The current state of the Royal Navy: 2 aircraft carriers — neither operational. 6 Type 45 destroyers (our most powerful warships) — one operational (in Cyprus). 7 Type 23 frigates (less powerful, much older) — three operational 5 Astute class nuke-powered subs — one operational (in Arabian Sea?). Surely those responsible for this appalling state of unreadiness (a national embarrassment if ever there was one)— political, civilian and military — should be fired/charged. Their incompetence has effectively left us without a navy. Quite an achievement for an ancient island nation.

Hard to believe this is true but it is. Alana Odysseos was 3 months pregnant when Shanie March stabbed her 23 times at her home in July 2024. She stumbled out onto the street and told passersby that he was the one who did it. He calmly walked away and left her dying in the street. The sad thing is that Shaine March should never have been free at that time. He was given a life sentence for the 2000 killing of Andre Drummond at a McDonald’s in Denmark Hill. Yet the prison authorities decided to release him, just 13 years into his sentence. He was found guilty of the murder of Alana and her unborn child and given another life sentence, with a minimum term of 42 years. Conservatives pushed for this to be changed to a whole life order which has just been granted. He should never see freedom again. Too late for Alana.

Here’s an idea, why don’t you temporary close Oxford street to see how it displaces all the buses and taxis and how the surrounding roads deal with the extra volume of traffic, hopefully then you will realise what a monumental waste of time and money it is.

Is there anybody in this government capable of giving a straight answer to a straight question?

Worth reading my exchange with Defence Secretary John Healey about whether Iran has the capability to strike London SR: Israel has said Iran has missiles that could strike London. Is that true? JH: We have no assessment of Iranian plans to strike London. We have a defence of Britain that isn't just about what we have for ourselves in and around Britain. Our defence of Britain is part of the layers of defence of NATO nations... SR: I don't understand what that means, that you 'don't have an assessment'. Does that mean you don't have an assessment at all so we don't know? Or does that mean that your assessments don't suggest that? JH: I understand the concerns that British people will have, but we have the resources and we have the alliances in place to be able to protect Britain. And we do that not just because we've got first class forces, but we have an alliance with 31 other NATO nations, and it's together that we defend NATO and British airspace, NATO and British homeland. SR: Do we know if Iran has the capability to strike London? JH: Look, what I'm saying, and trying to reassure people, is that we've got no assessment that Iran has any plans to attack, but we have the resources, we have the alliance in place to be able to defend Britain and we do that with allies, and we do that with NATO. And as far as Iran goes, they're demonstrating a capacity to hit across the Middle East. We see the same tactics and technologies that we see employed by Russia in Ukraine and this is the hidden hand of Putin in both conflicts. And I'm releasing today our latest defence intelligence assessment, which says that Russia was almost certainly providing training, sharing intelligence with Iran ahead of this conflict, including on types of drones, including on electronic warfare.

Day 4. Week 5. Wayne, Tracey, Sharon, and Martin. ❤️❤️❤️❤️ You are brave, strong and your voices have been heard. You may have survived that monster’s intention to murder you, but I know how deeply it has affected you and altered your lives forever. Retired SIO Leigh Sanders. You are a disgrace to policing. You cared more about reputation and damage limitation with the media than you did about your victims and your case. Thank god you have retired. If you hadn’t, I have no doubt that you would be facing some very serious investigations of your own. #nottinghaminquiry 💛💚

“Broken local politics.” This is deeply disingenuous. On the surface this looks like “brave” reporting on a “taboo” subject, but in actual fact it’s a diversion because it focuses on individuals like Ahmed Yakoob, instead of the real problem, which is massive deliberate demographic change. Everything that’s wrong with Birmingham and countless other British communities is downstream of mass immigration.

This is a brilliant - bleak - piece about the broken local politics of Birmingham. First class on the ground reporting by @alexrogerssky @JoshGafson1 These pieces aren’t easy - you only get footage like this with skill, graft and luck - please watch:

Here is the full speech. You can hear the sighs and moans from Labour after about a minute when I raised the rape gangs. This is exactly the mentality that meant the gangs have operated unimpeded for years. They never learn.

My home town Nottingham has been reduced into a shameful & unsafe place by those who are paid & tasked with looking after it. And because of that 3 innocent people are dead & our City is not safe.

The families of Valdo Calocane’s victims have been treated appallingly. Ian Coates’s body was left on the street for 15 hours. Then his three sons were excluded from a council-organised vigil. This is broken Britain, says Lisa McKenzie buff.ly/Mk98hrk
