@DonEMooreJr According to Bryan Caplan, NIMBYism is more often about people wanting their area to remain the same, not protect property values, so it's just as common among renters.

@MonicaCrowley hilarious. RFK Jr. is irrelevant to everything... has a name. Get that AI phake photo out of here. Go back to your Nixon research... he would have hated Trump. Why? b/c Nixon was smart.

@adamfaze I can't tell you, but it reminds me of this WSJ article about how Amazon justified losing money on the Echo with an internal metric that allocates it profit from other divisions. I wonder if it's a similar situation. wsj.com/tech/amazon-al…

A YouGov survey of 1092 men between 18-29 finds that John Cena, Elon Musk and The Rock rank among the most liked and trusted. Least liked are Andrew Tate, Ben Shapiro, Vaush, the Hawk Tuah girl and Destiny.

@RichardHanania Why do you not acknowledge that Republicans winning benefits your career? It would give your ideas more influence and importance, and you have connections with potential cabinet members like Vivek.

This is the rare article that lost me subscribers, both right and left. But I must continue telling you the truth. Libs, your economic views will make us all poor and miserable. Cons, you don’t respect women and are in an Orange Man Cult. Face reality. richardhanania.com/p/hating-conse…

@dwarkesh_sp @daylightco How does it compare to using a kindle before bed? Or a paper book?

I've gotten in habit of: - going to sleep with @daylightco - taking only my @daylightco to cafes when I want to do deep work I want some kind of stimulation while falling asleep, but if I take my phone or iPad to bed, I'll stay up watching YouTube or scrolling Twitter. Reading in bed (especially with a paperlike display) is for me the strongest sedative. Couple pages and I'm out. When I'm working, I'm usually reading difficult material and trying to come up with good questions. It's helpful to have a device where I'm not even tempted to fuck off and start scrolling. With a bluetooth keyboard, @daylightco basically functions as a laptop. I love that I can only do two things on this device - read, or write.

If you love politics you have to be excited about Kamala. We knew what a Trump/Biden campaign would look like. Two geezers farting. Trump now gets new material, and Kamala can actually take it to him. All kinds of fun unpredictable race and sex dynamics. The American people win.

I don't get this - why step down and back a nominee with a similar shot at winning? Shouldn't the move for the Dems be to go long variance and back someone who has a shot? Fat-tailed distribution and all that.

Peak Trump for 75 seconds: explaining how he came up with “no tax on tips” - by talking to a Vegas waitress! And at the end he says he didn’t need millions of dollars worth of consulting to figure it out. Just perfect.

@mualphaxi It's boring and Trump himself would say it's boring if someone else gave this speech.

This is a profound speech. I think it will be remembered for many, many years. I first heard Trump speak in person on October 28, 2016 and never forgot. This is much more memorable. Unreal.

I try to be YIMBY in good standing and take seriously the housing inflation struggle affecting 20-somethings. But I admit there's a devilish gleeful part of me that goes "Haha! My mortgage is half this per square foot, and locked in at Feb 2021 rates! Not my problem anymore!"

@asymmetricinfo Megan, setting aside how many Americans believe in the devil, how reasonable do you find it to believe in him? I also think blank slatism should be a strike against someone. But that doesn’t mean we let these other things pass.

60% of Americans believe the devil is real, which is quite a bit higher than the professed support for various progressive propositions. The belief that sharing majority theological beliefs is somehow scandalous seems quite emblematic of our age.
Jesse Eisinger@eisingerj

NEW: We uncovered a JD Vance speech that has never being reported. He: -Says the "devil is real" -Says Alex Jones is more reliable than Rachel Maddow It was a speech given to a secret Leonard Leo networking group. @AndyKroll & @NickSurgey: propublica.org/article/jd-van…

@GarettJones Mitt Romney would be a great candidate for the Democratic party. He'll get a lot of the Republican vote, and he really wants to beat the Republican ticket. He's a more electable pick than anyone they're considering.
