How do you offer a lesson in elders quorum / relief society without coming across as preachy? What works for you? Whenever I give a lesson (which has been only twice before) I always feel like the group is annoyed and disconnected. What strategies work for you to have an engaged meeting that bears fruit from the discussion?

Here is my current project. Just bought a lot of acres and getting the ground prepped before we build. Yes, that's a zip line that's about that's about 110 yards long.

@mattvanswol 9000 plus dollars is insane! This is way more of a medical industry problem that an insurance problem. Both have issues but the medical industry is exploiting the insurance industry.

Nearly a year ago, my wife went to the hospital for stomach pain. They did a CT Scan of her abdomen and thankfully didn't find anything serious. We got a bill in the mail of $9,117.42 I spent months talking to insurance, the hospital, billing appeals... I was told the claim was still processing. I was told the claim was out of the normal service area. I was told it wasn't clear it was medically necessary. I was told the insurance wasn't valid on the date of service. Finally, we got it handled, but it took well over 6 months from the day we got the first bill to the day we finished the process and paid. We did everything right. We have insurance. We pay our insanely high premiums every single month. It's just so frustrating. This whole healthcare system is broken, from top to bottom.

@JayDee909771543 We also have a daughter with special needs. She has changed our lives forever. My kids excel in certain relational aspects because of her. She is a blessing to our family. God gave us a gift. I wish all families could experience it.

I grew up a little different than most people. 3 of my 4 siblings have special needs. My one sister passed away before she turned 1. My other sister is high functioning and can do somethings tho she will probably always live with my parents. This is my youngest brother. He is 28 years old. Non verbal, autistic and has something called microcephaly. He’s not potty trained, needs help eating, and needs 24 hour care. He can say basic words like mom and dad, water, hot dog, car, etc. but it’s a tender mercy attending church with him Sundays. When he hears a song like love one another, or silent night, or popcorn popping, he will sing along with it somehow. He will actually string words together the best he can with a smile on his face while he’s singing. It brings a tear to my eye when I hear it. I think often of Gods commandment to become like a child and I wonder how? How can I do that? Submissive, meek, full of humility and kindness. I can’t remember what it’s like to be a child! But then I see someone with special needs and the kindness and love they show, of their tenderness and innocence and love and I am reminded. Oh yes, that is how. People think being in a family with siblings with special needs is hard and a “trial” maybe there is some truth to that. But after growing up like this. I feel like it’s the opposite. I’m blessed beyond anything I can imagine to be around children of God who love the way He did and it reminds me to try and be a better person so I can be with them all in the next life.

@mhp_guy It is not too late to have more kids. Maybe your wife feels differently but I'd keep going if I were you.

UPDATE, 3 years later: I no longer feel this way. I really regret not having more kids. If you think you can handle it - mentally & financially, & are confident in your skills as a parent, just keep having kids. I'm still in my 30s and am 2/3 done having 4 kids at home :(

@FinFreedom414 @HansenWJason I'm #2 of 11 children my parents gave life too and yes, the more the merrier is so true!! My Dad and Mom are quite poor but talking with my Dad recently about this very topic he said he had zero regrets and wouldn't change a thing if he could.

Imagine you had to choose your life at age 40: Option A: Single. No kids. $10M net worth. Travel anywhere. Total freedom. Quiet house. Quiet holidays. Option B: Married. 3 kids. $1M net worth. Drive a Toyota. Chaos every morning. Loud house. Full dinner table. Be honest, which life are you choosing?
