Senator proposing this had 3 head coaching jobs in 6 years, and walked out of a dinner with recruits to secretly take another job Source: usatoday.com/story/gameon/2… This was all when there was no portal so players were stuck playing where he signed them believing he would be there

You want to legislate and control the movements of players that you refuse to concede are employees. What happened to that free market and capitalism that you all speak so glowingly about?
Tommy Tuberville@CoachForGov

The transfer portal has screwed up college sports. My bill is simple: you get 5 consecutive years to play 5 seasons and you get 1 transfer. After that, if you transfer again, you sit out a year. This will fix 80% of the issues in NIL today.

@DanWetzel Why it is an issue and who is it an issue for? The adult student athletes?

For the NCAA, a narrow eligibility bill is the way to go. It also has a chance to actually pass. Transfer limits are an issue (and yes, Tuberville is a comical advocate due to his constant job changes as a coach) but this is where the debate should be. Most proposals are a waste.
Dan Murphy@DanMurphyESPN

Sen. Tommy Tuberville introduced a new, narrow college sports bill today. It would set eligibility limits at a max of 5 consecutive years to play 5 consecutive seasons. It also allows athletes to transfer one time, any additional transfers requires sitting out a year.

@HarneyEdd @CoachSwit Because they are there for an education, the constant transferring is killing the sports aspect of that education.

@PeteFiutak Coaches don’t coach at 3 or 4 schools in 5 years. That’s the broken part. The idea that players are “owed” this unadulterated freedom is comical. Without the names on the front of the jerseys no one gives a shit. Ask the G League

It’s absolutely ridiculous that we have 25-year-old “students” who graduated 3 years ago still playing college football. My bill is simple: you get 5 consecutive years to play 5 seasons. After that, you’re done. No more of this “COVID free year of eligibility” crap.

I just found out playing 2 years at a JUCO doesn’t count towards your 4 years NCAA eligibility. What. The. Fuck. 😳

The Cincinnati Reds have reached a pre-agreement with 12-year-old Dominican prospect Julio Ramos for a $2.8 million bonus. His swing is … incredible.

Why is it so difficult to just trot around the bases after a home run. First game of the year in the 5th inning and a player from Seton Hall has to jump up and down between 1b and 2b while looking at his bench screaming. And of course on one hop he rolls and breaks his ankle and probably done for the year. Sorry, I dont feel bad...next time run the bases and celebrate in the dugout.

@Ryan_M_Kimble As with most things, it depend. There are very legitimate reasons for kids to go to out of district schools. And relocating is not always financially possible.

I will die on this hill - if you go to public school - you should play in the school you aren districted to. If you want to play for another public high school - move.

@theficouple That interest rate isn’t happening. But if indeed it covered the payment, why not just pay for the vehicle?

Our friend bought a $95,000 car: Financed it at 4.9% for 72 months & total payment is $1,150/mo. Instead of paying cash, he invested into a fund that pays ~16% interest. He will use interest earned from the fund to cover his ~$14,000/yr payment. Would you do the same thing!?

@JeffStanek1 That’s makes sense. I just see lots of posts talking about kids throwing in January or February and MLB players aren’t and they may very well be on a different time

Kind of. The "kind of" depends on when he ramped it down. If he had adequate time down before ramping up, yes, being at full speed on 2/2 wouldn't matter. But it's apparent that he didn't. Again, not the kid's fault. It's the fault of the people who are making the travel baseball schedule, knowing that HS baseball starts in the south starts in February

Uhh, what are high school kids doing throwing as if it's mid-season on February 2nd?

#FSU commit Donovan Thiery (‘26) was pumping 93-97 MPH in Jupiter tonight (feels like in the low 40s). 4-pitch mix with a hi-80s cutter, mid-80s CH, and lo-80s breaker. Commanded breaking ball well, produced mutliple Ks with it. Great athleticism at six-foot-five.

"I burned 600 calories according to my watch!" Your watch is lying. Fitness trackers overestimate calorie burn by 30-50%. That "600 calories burned" is actually 300-400 calories. And your body will compensate away 200 of those. Net real deficit: 100-200 calories. You ran for an hour. You created the deficit of one banana. Or you could have not eaten the banana. Same result. Zero time investment. Tracking burns is giving you false confidence that you've earned extra food. You haven't. The math is far less generous than the app suggests.
