@wilber7_lfc @R_o_M What do you pretend Iain Wright thinks? Meanwhile, why have Liverpool named a stand after a racist? Odd behaviour.

@R_o_M I think you’re forgetting, you’ve come to me on here, not the other way round, how about you wind your neck in and Keep endorsing your hillsborough songs, you’ve not once condemned them in this conversation. Racism? Ian wright might have something to say about your club on that

Loads of Munich rhetoric, as you would expect. it’s all bullshit though, I’ve never been part of an anfield crowd that’s ever unilaterally sang about it, been a match-goer for 30 years. Short memories these united fans, specially when commemorated The passing of Ronaldo’s son

Kind of painful that many of the players shining for PSG and Bayern came from the Premier League. For all it's riches, it's not a league for stars...yet

I don't really notice the players in the away team very often when I'm watching United...I'm too focused on our play. So unless it's an exceptional performance it regularly goes under my radar. Saying that, I thought Jensen had a great game last night.

@SebMilbank In Japan, perhaps breakfast is similar to lunch. Or at least I can't identify the (presumably) subtle details separating lunch food and breakfast food. Whatever the case, some rice and spicy pork served with a bit of soup, some grilled fish, and tea strikes me as wonderful.

@HarrisonPE Curious as to what those involve, enjoy both but do they pass the "this counts as breakfast" test or is it essentially lunch transposed to the early hours of the morning?

@GuillemBalague @robbopalmer Genius: managers spend them time looking at a (at best) mildly important data point completely out of context. A thrilling insight.

@robbopalmer Managers and coaches look into it I am glad that fans are not the real reference if knowledge lol they can hate and love. But for knowledge you need to look at how coaches view the game I would say

I’m not sure normal fans ever take notice of xg. It’s for losing managers and pundits who want to look clever. It is a pointless metric. And Neuer was Man of the Match because he was outstanding in the first leg compared to poor in the second leg.
Guillem Balague@GuillemBalague

@gld74 @j_hoey @robbopalmer So why was Neuer MVP in the first leg? Did Real Madrid played to their strengths in the second leg? (So much so that they had a better Xg than Bayern! I understand possession confuses people

I watch plenty. Do you? Did you even watch the game? Time-wasting can happen at stoppages but just because it can happen doesn’t mean it did. Time-wasting is about the driver of delay in a stoppage. Putting up stats like those and claiming “time wasting” showcases poor understanding. It doesn’t list the number of stoppages. How many goal kicks, corners, FKs, throw ins. And it doesn’t consider context of how hard teams were pressing which often leads to longer GKs and throw ins. This is a poor attempt at leaning on a false narrative for rage baiting and clicks. That’s not even journalism. It’s just pathetic.

Lots of time-wasting in Arsenal v Bournemouth. Much of it completely unnecessary. Arsenal (L), Bournemouth (R), Arteta was tapping his watch towards the referee before FT; he might have been better served telling his players to get the ball rolling.

🇪🇸🗣️ Spanish journalist Guillem Balague: "Remember the following next time someone tells you La Liga is behind.... La Liga just showed us its 24/25 numbers. A record €5.464 billion in total revenue. A record 17.4 million fans in grounds. €70 million profit before tax. Squad costs held at 70% of income. A league that lives within its means, but also one that is growing as well." "Here’s what really doesn’t get said enough, although it might not be fully surprising. La Liga leads Europe in academy player market value. €1.46 billion. Ahead of the Premier League. Those players represent 26.6% of LaLiga’s total market value. In England? 9.7%." "La Liga academy players play nearly 20% of all minutes in the league. In England, 13.5%. This is a league that develops talent, trusts it, and builds on it. 91% of those academy players are Spanish." "The Premier League is a financial phenomenon. Of course it is, no one is pretending otherwise. But it spends more than double what it earns. Has been doing so for seven years. That should be worrying." "A league that turns a profit, fills its stadiums, and leads Europe in growing its own? It sounds to me like it is a good way to run football." "Things to improve: refereeing, VAR, the behaviour of fans (LaLiga has been fighting racism and discrimination, but even more has to be done), the departure of talent, more women involved in decision making at all levels." ✍️ @GuillemBalague

Devastated to hear that the wonderful Dame Averil Cameron has passed away. She was a groundbreaking scholar of Late Antique and Byzantine Studies, a trailblazer for women in academia, a devout Christian and someone who managed to be both formidable and loveable. A true great.
