Today, disagreement in a committee meeting is being projected as “constitutional collapse.” Democracy means participation, debate, and dissent — not delegitimizing every institution when outcomes don’t suit your politics. The LoP is not a rubber stamp. Correct. But India’s institutions are not opposition PR tools either.

I have written to the Prime Minister recording my dissent from the CBI Director selection process. I cannot abdicate my constitutional duty by participating in a biased exercise. The Leader of Opposition is not a rubber stamp.

Wait, are you suggesting that the third member of the selection committee - CJI is a rubber stamp? Why then are you fighting a case asking for inclusion of CJI in the panel to select EC when you dont trust the judgement of CJI anyways. Stick to one position. Either CJI is needed or not needed in these panels.

Prior to that, he was the Vice Chief of the Army Staff from 01st Jul 2024 to 31st July 2025 and was General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Central Command from March 2023 till June 2024.
