Today kicks off four days of hearings at the Supreme Court of Canada for the legality of Bill 21, Quebec’s religious symbols ban on public sector employees in positions of authority. We, alongside our partners with the CCLA, have been fighting for years. This is arguably the most consequential legal battle of our generation.

It's never been easier to get your first 1,000 users. So I'm going to host the first @alifdotbuild livestream to show you how. Most founders overcomplicate things. They try to be everywhere at once: X posts TikTok clipping Cold emails SEO and GEO Reddit comments Meta ads LinkedIn cold outreach Then wonder why they don't see the mercury dashboard move. You can make anything work. But you can't make everything work. One channel, intentionally chosen. Iteratively executed. We've taken companies from 0 to their first $1M in ARR through one channel (and usually with $0 spent). But we also profitably spend ~$10M/mo on ads for our ecosystem companies. In the livestream, @imranye and I will break down how to identify your first channel, position your product, and get your first 1,000 users. Comment "livestream" and I'll send you the link.

Ontario has an ambitious plan to take the Niagara region from 13 million visitors per year to 25 million, and double the overall economic impact of tourism in the area. What do you think the region needs if it's going to be successful?

If I do this, I would try to do it on a very tight timeline. Like I would want to make it very fast to not overthink it. I have some thoughts and questions already. A core part of the piece would definitely have to be a few key shawarma joints in Canada. I might start by going to Ghadir in Scarborough this week for initial research and interviews.

Shawarma in Toronto is some of the worst garbage I have ever had (speaking as a 1/2 Leb) - sorry. The fact that there are 36 Osmow’s locations in Toronto/Mississauga/Brampton (combined) is the only data point you need to know it’s trash. Montreal has the best food in Canada (and Ottawa specifically for Shawarma). Period. Toronto for east Indian + West Indies, of course. But that’s about it. (Scale is on authenticity and quality, not popularity)

Toronto legit has incredible authentic Arab food, Asian food, Jamaican food, American food, South American food, etc. all within the same general area

the story behind the @trybehold logo - represents a person in sujood - the dot under inspired by the quote from Ali رَضِيَ ٱللَّٰهُ عَنْهُ: "All that is in the revealed books is in the Quran; and all that is in the Quran is in the Fatiha; and all that is in the Fatiha is in the Bismillah; and all that is in the Bismillah is in the letter Ba (ب); and all that is in the letter Ba is in the dot which is under the Ba."

Unpopular Opinion: In 10 years, Tesla will sell as many vehicles per year as Buick. They are getting blown away by Chinese competitors, and they are in Stage 3 of grief: Bargaining If EV tariffs from China fell to 50% (instead of 100%), Tesla would be bankrupt by 12/31/2027.

Tobi: If you don't read books, you live a lifetime. If you read books, you live a thousand, right? David: I'm going to interrupt you real quick because I took notes on this podcast six years ago. This is the first time I came across you and you said something that I absolutely love, and I had in my notebook, and I went to find when I took it. It was 2020, and you said, "Books are the closest thing you ever come to finding cheat codes for real life. You can access the entire learnings of someone else's career in a few hours." Tobi: It tracks, doesn't it? David: I dedicate my life to this, so of course, I'm going to agree with that. Tobi: Absolutely. I really think we need to shout this more from the rooftops, right? The one weird trick seems to be just read books.

simple 9 minute morning routine (everyone has 9 minutes) sit down on a chair, close your eyes, then do… 3 mins: breathwork - i use the otherside app (or you can use Wim Hofs video on YouTube for free) 3 mins: gratitude - i keep it simple. i simply visualize my kids, wife, parents… laughing 3 mins: focus - lock in on the ONE thing you want to make happen today. What matters today? ONE thing only. What’s one thing (that if you did well) you could sleep easy tonight knowing the day was a win?
