Trump’s not ideal but he is what we’re stuck with for now. But he’s also fleeting, while geography and economic realities endure. Americans are our friends and neighbours. In many cases they’re family. It’s often been an uneasy and uneven relationship but there’s still far more that unites than divides us. Blowing that up in favour of a strategic partnership with an oppressive dictatorship that has kidnapped and tortured our compatriots, that does not share Canadian values and never will, a regime that actively works to this day to undermine and interfere with our democracy, none of that makes no sense to me.
