@WonderingWeldon @matthewdmarsden Was you watching a different game? Your opinion stinks of bias. There were decision that went for and against both teams, as with most games of football. This idea that England only progressed thanks to the referee is a fabrication borderlining delusion.

@HealsLV @matthewdmarsden Again, the claim that calls went in englands favor is demonstrably true. You’re welcome to deny reality but all that makes you is the same as an Argentina fan claiming maradona didn’t use his hand. And facing Argentina next, England is gonna need all the help they can get.

As I said on my show yesterday, Soccer is not like football. It is not meant to be dissected in slow motion like they do games over here. There is a certain amount of pulling and shoving that is allowed, because if you didn’t let it happen, we would be stopping the game every 5 minutes. Var is a relatively new thing that was originally meant to deal with big incidents like offsides and goal line disputes, not tussles in the box between players like this. Stop using the standards of football on tv to judge soccer at the World Cup.

What about this, @FIFAWorldCup? No red card for pushing an elbow in the Norwegian player’s neck? Oh no, it was an Englishman who pushed. They are exempt from any penalties, apparently. 🤡🤡🤡

@matthewdmarsden The claim isn’t that the refs intentionally fixed the game or ONLY helped them. The claim is the calls went in their favor. That’s not an opinion. Whether it was intentional or malicious is debatable without evidence. But the refs calls absolutely favored England. Right or wrong.

Millions can replay camera and see ball suddenly change trajectory after contact with wire. Many news outlets have replayed video for all to see. FIFA says didn't happen, and Norway has declined to appeal the match.
FIFA Media@fifamedia

Before England’s goal in minute 45+2 against Norway, the sensor in the Connected Ball showed no peak in the 'heartbeat of the ball' when in the air, and therefore no evidence that the ball touched the overhead wire and changed the movement of the ball.

Har sovet på det nå, og våkner mer bitter enn jeg var i natt. Det er ikke til å holde ut at vi ryker på dommerfeil! Men aldri så galt osv. Dette MÅ være spikeren i kista for VAR her hjemme.

Nobody would be remotely arsed about the wire thing if 1. FIFA hadn't immediately came out and lied about it 2. A single living English person was capable of going "haha yeah funny one, due a bit of luck for once!"

@DuncanCastles Worth noting that the decision was made using a new rule that came in at the start of the tournament, one which was correctly applied.

@cryptojourneyrs There is controversy. The only controversy that exsists, is from people who do not understand football, or the laws that govern it. You even share a clip where the US (Neutral) commentators agree it was the correct decision to pause play.

England has officially claimed the title of football's biggest diving nation. The Brazilians, Spaniards, and Italians can't even compete with Kane, Anderson, and the rest. Absolutely embarrassing.

Norge kunne altså vunnet VM. Så skal vi robbes av en jævla wire, VAR og en dommer som er så sinnsykt korrupt. Latterlig.

A lot of people clutching at straws rn, but lets face it - the referees are just inconsistent and shit. This is what happens when you get refs from all over the world with different interpretations of each situation. The Norway goal was a *soft* foul. The England penalty should have stood. The issue is that 50% of referees would make the opposite decision in both those situations; because we’re pretending idiots who have NEVER played football can interpret football actions properly… impossible.

Norway overhead wire controversy - AI summary is excellent:- “The visual evidence is exactly why the football world is so unified against FIFA's stance. Replays broadcast on networks like SBS and BBC Sport show a highly unnatural change in the ball’s trajectory—dropping sharply into the path of Elliot Anderson. To anyone watching, it looked like definitive proof of contact. Your critique ( mine ) of the VAR process highlights the core failure of the current IFAB VAR Protocol in high-stakes situations: Why VAR Didn't Overturn It •The "Clear and Obvious" Trap: Under IFAB rules, VAR cannot override an on-field decision unless they find "clear and obvious" visual proof. Because of lens compression and the extreme distance of the cameras from the overhead wires, the video room claimed they could not see a definitive "gap" or physical vibration of the wire on their monitors. •Blind Faith in "Snicko": Instead of using basic human logic—looking at how the ball fell straight down—the VAR team deferred entirely to the automated telemetry data. Because the internal microchip didn't register a "heartbeat" spike, the referees treated the technology as infallible truth, ignoring the physical reality on the pitch. The Human Element Erased As former players and pundits have pointed out, the immediate, intense reaction of Ørjan Nyland and Erling Haaland should have been a massive red flag for the referees. Goalies know the flight path of their own kicks. For Nyland to instantly stop and point to the sky means he saw the deviation live. By hiding behind the automated sensor, FIFA made a purely legalistic decision rather than a sporting one. It saved them from admitting that their stadium hardware directly interfered with a World Cup quarterfinal, but it ultimately cost Norway their 1-0 lead and a fair shot at the semi-finals.

🚨🗣️ 𝗡𝗘𝗪: Roy Keane has hit back at Erling Haaland’s father after his criticism of the referee following Norway’s 2-1 defeat to England. “Will he even remember the game? He always seems to be drinking alcohol at matches. If you’ve had a drink, you see the game differently. The push was a push. You can argue about some decisions, but you can’t say the referee cost Norway the game.”

The game wasn’t always like this. The game used to be more physical. Diving was even frowned upon by a lot of players. They used to let a lot go and the game was way more war like. Then they added VAR. Then they went from 3 subs to 5 subs. Then they allowed insane time wasting. Then they kept rewarding diving. The beautiful game, although still with controversies and reffing decisions, was way more enjoyable. Games felt like going to war for their team. Now every game is filled with excessive diving, trying to get players yellows, time wasting (not this World Cup thankfully), unbalanced fouling, VAR controlling the game, insane decisions. The beautiful is not beautiful anymore. It’s just a product. Like the NBA. And I’m not buying it anymore.

THIS is why soccer will never become popular with men in the US. It's a feminine game played by and for weak & feeble men. This Norwegian should be playing a man's game, not this estrogen filled game. But unfortunately, for him, he was born in the wrong country.
