Annual raises averaging about 3.5% over four years is entirely reasonable. @GovKathyHochul’s MTA wastes tons of $ on poor planning, construction cost overruns, consultants, and a $1,500 an hour, hired-gun lawyer for @LIRR negotiations - when it has an entire Labor Relations Department already on the payroll. But some efficiency twits and corporate mouthpieces focus on the people actually doing the work for austerity, not those with the corner offices overlooking the city from which they enrich themselves. Take a hike. By the way, two Presidential Emergency Boards that investigated said this: “At no point in the PEB hearings did the Carrier assert that there was a financial inability to pay for reasonable wage increases that were otherwise found to be appropriate. Unlike a number of prior periods, there was no claim and no showing that the MTA was in any dire financial straits.” @TwuSamuelsen #lirr #strike

@halaljew No one is saying they shouldn't be paid well. But they're already being paid well. The average salary is over $130,000 with many making over $200,000 after overtime. All this strike is doing is preventing the guy who only makes $50,000 to get to work and make a living.

I mean yeah, no one is claiming that LIRR workers are living in abject povert. But these workers move hundreds of thousands of passengers a day, their labor is vital to the region and its economy. Why shouldn’t they be paid well?

Quick point. We have had 4 baby boomer presidents. 5 if you count Biden, who is right on the edge. We’ve had ZERO Gen X. We went from almost no debt, to almost 40 trillion. That generation has left us with a debt we can never repay. The GOP boomers were so angry at “immigrants” and brainwashed by @foxnews they elected the worst president again (GOP primary and general) instead of relinquishing power to Gen X. It’s time we pass the torch.
