Canada is advising its citizens travelling to the United States to prepare for intense scrutiny at the border. In an updated travel advisory released on Friday, the federal government cautioned that individuals denied entry may be detained while arrangements for deportation are made, and that Canada won’t be able to intervene. It also warns that travellers should expect heavy questioning and their electronic devices searched by the U.S. officials. “Border officers have significant discretion in these matters,” the advisory states. “U.S. officials strictly enforce their entry regulations, so travellers should anticipate thorough inspections, including checks of their electronic devices, at border crossings.”

@MarkJCarney The capital gains tax hike was not implemented in the first place. It was proposed by the liberals but then they prorogued government so it was never passed into law. You canceled something that didn’t even exist yet. Good job!

My government is cancelling the capital gains tax hike. We’re going to incentivize builders, innovators, and entrepreneurs to grow their businesses right here in Canada and create more good-paying jobs.    It’s time to build the strongest economy in the G7.
