The Martian is so good, it’s kind of a shame that it didn’t seem to have the pop culture relevance of Interstellar. Hardly anyone talks about it anymore Then again maybe Interstellar is just a juggernaut. It’s not like anyone’s talking about Ad Astra, First Man, Gravity, either

Why on earth would you avoid gossip or talking about others? Chisme is the among life’s greatest joys. It’s how we connect with one another. Everyone loves gossip and the people who pretend they don't are consistently the basic dum dums who think it makes them sound smart and highbrow instead of just dishonest or boring. Being interested in other people's lives is normal and healthy.
Camila 🌷@xcamilachica

There are women who will talk for hours without gossiping even once about other people. They talk about their goals, their interests, their fears, their routines, their past, their desires, but not a single moment do they talk about others. I did not think this was possible. I did not know healthy women who avoided gossip existed, but they do. It truly is so refreshing to talk to someone for hours about life & not once need to mention others in the conversation.

“Declining birthrate” is code for “fewer women being exploited.” Let it decline. Let it plummet. Let it freefall.

Someone irl asked me once if being a SAHM was monotonous. Of course there are times on monotony. Do you know what is good though? The ordinary grace of a simple life marked by the ebb and flow of daily tasks.

@wholemars You hail Elons Grok, highly recommend using it to know this is a stock grant exercise… not an open market purchase. I know credibility is more important to you than views so wanted to offer that advice

@TruthSeek01011 Spaces became more structured for females. Men have, and still do, bond over making fun of each other and everyone around them. This is a feministic change in culture

As millennials, we grew up on shows like South Park, Jackass, family guy and so many more shows that poked fun at everyone. How did some of you become such absolute pussies and offended by everything? What happened to you?

80% of organ donors are women. 80% of organ recipients are men. Men are always trying to take our flesh in one way or another.

@JenniferSey I’m optimistic, as it’s still rampant, but I sense a decline in the performative craziness of a few years ago.

The grotesquely smug “I’m gonna give you some great parenting tips here so lean in and listen up!” is so off the charts. And no way she does any of this. Performing for the crowd here. 🤮

The birth rate is not just declining because it’s unaffordable to have children (though it is). It’s declining because women are realizing it’s not our destiny to have children.

People will go buy a $450k house to “flex”. Then they spend: - 9-10 hours a day at the office - 2-3 hours commuting for work - 1-2 hours a day at the gym Time spent awake & in their expensive home? …~12% of the day.

Many women do not want to ‘stay home’. It’s boring, repetitive and you are an unpaid servant. It also predisposes you to poverty if your husband gets bored & dumps you. Also, women have outperformed men in education for a century. Maybe you guys should stay home.
Henry VIII@SussexHenryVIII

My hot take is that young men who cannot afford for their significant other to stay home feel emasculated and it's much easier to insist that women are bitches then it is to actually fix what killed the middle class.

@wholemars Cope. Elons periods of craziness certainly didn’t help. He was also part of the politicization of owning any EV. CEOs just shouldn’t act like that and also Lie publicly. Not having a broader lineup was bigger issue alongside EV confusion but his periods of crazy hurt also

The argument that “Elon is killing the Tesla brand” turned out to be wishful thinking. A lot of people hoped that the brand would die because they were mad at him, but that doesn’t match up with the data. Look at Rivian. Their sales declined by twice as much as Tesla in 2025, from a much smaller base. Look at BYD. Tesla sold more BEVs than they did in the first quarter, making them the best selling EV brand in the world. I don’t doubt that some people who would have bought Tesla bought something else. But a lot of people probably bought Teslas because of him as well. Overall Elon’s politics was vastly overplayed as a story while few people discussed factors like falling oil prices (until recently), high interest rates, taxes, and reduced incentives. Economic factors seem to have played a much more powerful role than politics, or else you would have seen the rest of the industry overtaking Tesla. Instead Tesla remains #1 despite years of stories about supposed “Tesla killers”
