I chatted with @fnshing_move about the creation of @DOOM The Dark Ages soundtrack, the crazy instruments used, their coolest memories, and SO much more! This was a blast, and I'd love to chat with them again! @bethesda youtu.be/GlXA71UzcNY

@TheCriticalDri1 @imSethDrums there’s a place for both, it depends on what your audience likes. summoningsalt shines on his longer documentaries, other channels thrive on shorter form. TV watchers are longer form, phone, shorter. it’s not 100% cut and dry though

I've been pondering this post. After everything is said and done if someone has good content they'll listen. Joe Rogan's 3hr podcast is a great example of this and why long form conversations are popping up all over the place. The tension between artistry and giving people what you expect them to want is very real. David Bowie said it best when he encouraged artists to not fall into the temptation of doing what others might want/like. Your stuff is awesome so people will consume it. In a sea of content you've done really well and that is to be commended! In the end is the content someone puts out valuable? THAT is the question and hope people stick to their guns. Best delivery in an often changing landscape of tools is definitely an important part of the equation.

I’ve been a full-time content creator since 2018… and NONE of my growth on social media came from streaming. Zero. 4 years of posting almost daily > hundreds of hours streaming. And the reality of it is: When people recognize me in public "sometimes lol", they don’t say, “Yo you’re that streamer on Twitch.” It’s ALWAYS: “You’re the guy from those AI drum videos on Facebook/TikTok.” Unfortunately, my streams have been stuck for years. Not because I stopped trying… but because people's attention span has changed. People don’t want long live streams anymore. They want: 90 seconds a quick laugh and they’re gone. If you’re a creator still relying ONLY on long-form content… You’re playing the old game.

@sethfowIer @Turbolunch Do you mean like the 100 days type of genre? Or 100%’ing because i would assume its not the let’s play style, while the 100 days stuff is major, just takes a lot of time to create

@GorgoBazooka any group does have a section that is elitist, though yeah eternal definitely does. the classics do too - shunning any of the modern trilogy. i grew up through the 90s and like em all (though i never did play doom 3)

I never seen a fanbase get as angry as DOOM for liking any other game besides THE ONE (DOOM Eternal) If you like DOOM: The Dark Ages or 2016 ("objectively and factually Dogshit game. You're bad bro!") If you like DOOM Eternal (holy shit THE ONLY GOOD AND PERFECT GAME EVER!)

The negative reviews of Super Mario Galaxy are absolute slander. There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with this movie. The Musical Score is excellent. The voice performances are incredibly done. The story progression will keep adults and children from being bored. Any adult and child who has played Nintendo Games in the last 40 years will have Easter Eggs from their childhood they can enjoy. For viewers not deep into Nintendo lore, the themes and story are easy to follow. You have to work to find fault with it.

@JoshStrifeHayes @sandpenguin it’s interesting… you get the content, for free (paying in terms of time by watching ads), giving no money. when you do a sponsorship to help yourself out, it gets complaints. Yet.m if you don’t get paid, you can’t make the free vids. You deserve to get reimbursed for your time

I need to be honest. 1/🧵 I've spent 5+ years making content on the MMO genre, and that has been supported by ad revenue, viewer support and VERY few sponsorships. I took the WoW x Pinterest campaign to make 5 shorts, less than 3 minutes of video, as I like irl treasure hunts...

@_____HACKED____ @pcgamer you’ll like the DLC, it will have backtracking, in that like 30%? of the game won’t be accessible til it’s cleared. id argue too both modern doom games are mostly linear in design - each game has secrets off the main path. exceptions are foundry and argent facility in 2016

@GameLifeCrisis @SynthPotato For every review that doesn’t like the direction a game takes (even if things are fixed/adjusted in later updates), there are others who really like it. Same goes with any media, I like stuff reviewers don’t. Eternal’s DLC music had its issues as well. Try it out, it’s on sale.

Most people don’t realize I am already operating on the premise of their worst case scenario… The difference is that I’ve been preparing for those scenarios as if Cosmic Abominations have been plotting my downfall the entire time… My optimism comes from paranoid preparation… You’re giving yourself anxiety over an imagined inconvenience or disruption. My standard level of anxiety is that I am imagining going to war with Daemons… Develop a mental model for “Warrior Mode”… Imagine a version of yourself that MUST overcome every obstacle in front of you… Pull the trigger on your mind and become relentless in your focus, and ruthless with your time. Become someone who cannot and will not fail to achieve their objective. Do not stop until every problem, e wry trauma, ever Daemon, has been slain by your hand. Become the embodiment of willpower… But also know when to flip the off switch.

According to YouTube 30% if DAILY users are watching Live Streams. And Shorts get 200B views per day. You should assume in modern YouTube that Long form views are 20-30% of all views on the platform… And you should also keep in mind 90% of those long form views are concentrated across the top 3% of channels on YouTube… With that in mind… What’s your strategy now?

Recently I mentioned that Doom 2 was a "cash grab" and there is an attempt at a community note saying this was debunked. But it's not. Look, here's the facts: 1) John Carmack & Michael Abrash & Dave Taylor were working on the Quake Engine. For the first few months of this, there wasn't a lot for myself and American McGee (the level designers) to do. John Romero was mostly helping the level design at that point - not only creating his own awesome levels, but creating powers and abilities for us to place into levels, and keeping the database, and all sorts of other things. Plus he was also involved in the Quake design during that time. He worked like a fiend. The artists had a few Quake things to try, but in general, the idea behind Doom 2 was that the level designers + the artists + John Romero (when not doing Quake) may as well make id Software a profit. So we didn't have a lot of new stuff in Doom 2 - it was mostly just reusing old stuff. I mean yeah all the levels were new. But it was the same monsters (with a couple exceptions). We didn't even get a new boss monster and Adrian Carmack and I had to cobble together the final boss Icon of Sin from a mere texture. I don't think that it was bad. It earned id Software money when we needed it (Remember 90% of Doom owners pirated it. Ugh.) It provided lots of great Doom fun. Who could object to id making some money while providing awesome gameplay to our customers? I guess the problem is people think of a "cash grab" only negatively. Like we're trying to hurt the community. But we weren't. We felt we were providing good service. And also making money.
