Nenshi revealed the diagnosis during a virtual town hall after viewers noticed changes around his eyes. He described the condition as cosmetic, not painful, and not life-threatening. He said multiple treatments were tried and that ivermectin has helped reduce the swelling. Ivermectin became highly controversial in Alberta during the COVID-19 pandemic after health officials blocked its use for COVID patients, citing a lack of credible evidence and concerns over flawed or fraudulent studies. Alberta Health Services said high-quality trials did not support its effectiveness against COVID.
