@GlamSlam72 I have a bootleg album called 'Iggy & Ziggy' which is a crude recording from a live concert. Features a naked Pop & Bowie on the cover!

Glam Slam: Chronicles
Glam Slam: Chronicles@GlamSlam72·
On this day — May 21, 1977 — NME published a fascinating article titled “Rich Man, Poor Man” featuring David Bowie and Iggy Pop in conversation. Fresh from Bowie producing Iggy’s landmark album *The Idiot*, the two sat down for a candid TV interview. The piece captures them discussing Iggy’s solo career comeback, their working relationship, stage personas, punk rock, and the realities of fame and personal struggle. Bowie comes across as thoughtful and supportive, while Iggy is raw, intense, and uncompromising. This was a pivotal moment — Bowie deep in his Berlin period, quietly helping to resurrect Iggy’s career after years of chaos. The article perfectly reflects the contrasting worlds of the two artists at that time. A rare joint appearance from two icons who would go on to shape so much of what came next in music. #DavidBowie #IggyPop #RichManPoorMan #NME1977 #BerlinEra #TheIdiot #SeventiesMusic #MusicHistory

@amazingmap Tiamana for Germany is as equally 'interesting' as Wiwi. When I was being taught I was told it meant Whitepride! Mana definitely is the the word for pride. Not too sure on Tia (tee-ah) There is a Gov't Dept here in N.Z that makes up official state sanctioned Maori words.

Neil Diamond made a notable guest appearance as himself on a 1967 episode of Mannix. He performed "The Boat That I Row" and "Raisin’ Caine" in a nightclub scene. "Raisin' Caine" is an unreleased song that never appeared on his official records.

This was a photo I took outside Tehran when I freedom toured Iran via public bus system in 2017. It is emblematic of the infrastructure in the country. Half built highways to nowhere litter the countryside. Ceased work when budgets ran-out I'm presuming? Hence, with so much other roading infrastructure to work-on. The Karaj bridge pictured must be strategically important.

Come on a journey via my latest YouTube video (link below) No further than the wilds of a N.Z Kitchen or Sydney Department Store. Where I explain the origins of the name of the Kiwi culinary delight. The iconic Afghan Biscuit. Whilst at the same time treating with contempt & ridicule. False suggestions the name somehow referenced the skin colour of the Afghani people. Woke slur that has resulted in the biscuit being banned and re-named in some quarters. @ZealandEarly @hp88 @Bluebird262626 @NZAllison #AfghanBiscuits #gowokegobroke #griffinssnacks youtu.be/BLt1-EGV5wg

The Taliban's favourite motorbike - the Honda CG125. Motorbikes like these were tactical tools for the Taliban, allowing insurgents to remain agile when conducting reconnaissance. This one was recovered by British soldiers of C Company, 1st Battalion, The Rifles, in 2011.

I was there last year. There are lots of them, hundreds and they look like mounds a crab constructs on a beach. Only they are overgrown with vegetation, grass. Best guess as to size as dims vary. Say 15 x 15 mtrs and 2 mtrs tall. The shaft hole 25 cms i.e. not wide. Yep, no one knows the origin. Fascinating. BTW: This island was used by the French as a Penal Colony. Think 'Papillion'

Oldest concrete in the world, 12900 years old, was found on the Isle of Pines in the Pacific Ocean. Nobody knows who created it... The diagram shown is associated with reports by François Chevalier on the Isle of Pines (New Caledonia), describing unusual subsurface formations. These features have been interpreted by researchers as natural ferruginous (iron-rich) concretions, which can form in layers and nodules through geological processes over thousands of years. Concrete, as a human-made material, has well-documented origins. The earliest widely accepted examples come from the Near East around 6500–7000 BCE, with lime-based plasters used in construction. The Romans (circa 200 BCE onward) later developed advanced concrete using volcanic ash (pozzolana), enabling long-lasting structures like the Pantheon. No verified evidence exists of engineered concrete dating back 12,900 years, and no known civilization from that period possessed the technology associated with cement production and controlled aggregate mixing. Natural “concretions” can resemble man-made materials; some iron-rich formations harden to the point that they have been mistaken for ancient tools or construction in multiple locations worldwide. © Reddit #archaeohistories

How old are your fathers there Leo and Dan? Over 40 I'm guessing. Can he do 1 let alone 5 pull-ups? BTW I go to the pool 3-4 times weekly and swim 2.5 km a session. Did a 3.0km open water lake event recently and I am 65. Completed 2 x 100km ultramarathons at 61 & 63. But according to your ‘arbitrary quixotic' list. All fitness tests are in a gym. I’m not fit because I can’t bench-press X or do whatever a bloody farmers carry is? LOL. Gym bros make me laugh.

@theepicmap In reality N.Z has just two. Main Islands and Chatham's. And if you extended what is N.Z? Lumped in dependencies. The total would be 6. Tokelau, Cooks, Niue and Ross at South Pole. Thus, variable depending on what you call New Zealand.

What's that in Tomans BTW? When you go to Iran you are greeted with two different bank notes. All circulating together. The parallel internal currencies of Rials and Tomans. Rial is worth 10 x Tomans. The age and shabby condition of the physical notes make it a tourist nightmare working out which 6 inch bundle of notes you have, values. Everything there operates on cash. You buy a car in folding. In 2017 when I was there 1 N.Z Dollar (0.60 USD) was worth roughly 20,000 Rial. Today it's 800,000. So 1 NZD = 8 million Tomans! One trillion Rials will get you an entry level mountain bike as at today.

@battlefieldexpl We stayed in Undersberg Hotel by the adrenaline inducing cable car. Took the bus to Berchtesgaden. Then up to the nest. Weird how there was just a humble concrete marker by the bus-stop signaling you were now crossing the border into Germany.

Three guardhouses once controlled the road from Berchtesgaden to the Obersalzberg. Only one survives. Built in 1937, it sits by the river near the train station, right where the road begins its climb. The date is still carved above the entrance. The space where the Reich eagle was mounted is still visible. Today it appears to serve as a small shop. Easy to miss. Something I always point out when guiding groups through Berchtesgaden.
