@IMGerhi @RiebvJanbeeck @chrischameleon German may sound different than 200 years ago, but it is still German that is shaped by a common people. Not the same as Afr moving to US,then becoming American within 2 generations.Nothing left of Afr except some family names. Afr will change, sure, but it will be shaped by us

@IMGerhi @RiebvJanbeeck @chrischameleon Where are those people today? Who kept their German or Dutch language and culture? No one really, which was the point. If you leave. You sacrifice your culture and language, UNLESS you go in big enough numbers to a similar area. Eg italians to North East USA. Even then...

@KingsmeadBF I have been thinking of attending the fair but just had a look at your tickets. There is no world in which your pricing structure is justified. Honestly wtf?

@GamingGrifter If the ANC government took power and then did nothing other than draw government salaries we would have been so much better of now. But they are still fixing what was never broken.

If BEE and affirmative action isn't the reason for South Africa failing then what is? Why is our economy not growing? 32 years after apartheid and the ANC can't even get accidental growth to occur. So what causes this?

Dear fellow people who can speak other languages: is it pretentious to pronounce foreign words right? Like, I don't want to say 'Van goff' or 'Van Go' for Van Gogh, because that's not how it's said but do I sound a dick if I say Fon Hockh with the throat sound?

Minister @DeanMacpherson, For collecting a document at Home affairs, I was told today to make an appointment. The only place I can make an appointment is online, on your system that fucking sucks ass (it kicked me out 5 fucking times today while trying to make the appointment). I could of course refuse to make the appointment, but as your department is fucking useless, those without bookings for even such a simple thing as picking up a document, stand in line for hours with no hope of even entering the doors while those who did manage to make appointments on your fucked up system keep getting called in. After standing in line for hours despite their reservation. My question is how on earth are rural citizens, with no access to the net or computers (you try doing it online with a fucking phone, I dare you fatboy) and no Starlink I might add (fuck you too @MYANC) supposed to access the services you are mandated and requires to provide to ALL citizens? You sir, are a failure and a disgrace to your nation and your country. And fuck your globalist masters too and double fuck your electronic ID. Fucking asshat loser.

@realPeterCrerar Also, as a painter also I agree with the comparison. You might not count brush strokes but you would consider layers of paint.

@realPeterCrerar Good question. People are giving here reasons for word counts to exist, but you ask why writers. I personally hate it as a writing metric. But I think people use it because it is quantifiable, I wrote X words vs I wrote a good scene for example.

Why do writers track the number of words they've written? That's like a painter counting brushstrokes.

@CyrilRamaphosa Your government has trampled with their ideological blindness on every public participation process where people told you they don’t want the nonsense you are peddling. You do not respect the constitution and what you say here is an absolute hypocrisy.

Again, you were attempting to pull technicalities to facilitate your stance. Saying "he said it's a painting" means absolutely nothing. It's quite simple to infer that he is talking about the Monet scan. If you aren't capable of that, then yes, your reading comprehension skills need work. The conclusions drawn from the replies is exactly as I say they are. They immediately gobbled up the premise of the question without questioning it or using critical thinking. Automatically assuming it is AI. They then regurgitate reasons why it is bad because of their own preconceived notions on AI. The test was worded well enough to trick the hive minded masses into believing it was AI simply because he claimed it was. Again, no critical thinking skills by any of them. It's was entirely performative on their part. They assumed it was AI, and immediately launched every assault they could at it. It was entirely their own egotistical preconceptions of AI and art that lead them to looking like fools. Simple as that. You can try and deny it all you want, but they got tricked by their own virtue signaling. Nothing about the question made them go after it in the way that they did, except their own bias.

@TheRundownAI I don’t have the time to do it justice now, but this “social experiment” did not prove what the gleeful claim it proved, not about AI, not about art, and not about opinions on either.

An artist just put a mirror to a lot of society's knee-jerk critiques of AI, using Claude (Monet). SHL0MS, known for his viral experiments, posted an image of a real Monet water lilies painting on X and told people it was AI-generated. Hundreds of replies poured in explaining exactly why it was 'slop'. "No cohesion of elements." "Doesn't look anywhere near like a Monet. Looks like somebody trying to replicate the style and achieving 20% of it." "High school level art 101 work." Every flaw described was a one invented the moment they saw the word AI.

i just generated an image in the style of a Monet painting using AI please describe, in as much detail as possible, what makes this inferior to a real Monet painting

@Wigglenatorr @JoshDaws My reading comprehension of the original post, question, and content thereof is perfectly fine. The basic essence remains, the conclusions drawn from the replies are bogus because the test is both biased and badly constructed. You are working backwards from and assumed conclusion

Did you not see the parentheses that was an explanation that the premise describes the work as AI but was in fact a Monet scan? I really would hope your reading comprehension would be higher than that my guy.. It doesn't matter what the medium of expression is dude, you are trying to reach for technicalities to prop up your stance on it when the entirety of the point is to show that people who believe they know art, in fact do not know art. They cannot distinguish between AI and hand made, they can't figure out they all drank the $1 wine compared to the $1000 wine. I mean I don't know how else to put it to you. It's a rather obvious psychological experiment that shows peoples blatant egotistical bias under the guise of a cleverly worded statement.
