As I depart #NewYork after a week of valuable engagements at #UNGA78, I’m confident that the seeds for sustainable economic growth and development in Sierra Leone have been sown through the various strategic bilateral engagements. From bilateral to diplomatic meetings, one thing was clear: #SierraLeone is set to take its rightful place in the Comity of Nations. We are also poised to assume membership in the @UN #SecurityCouncil for 2024-2025 to contribute to shaping a more peaceful and prosperous world for all ~ rebuilding trust and promoting global solidarity. I look to the future with much optimism, knowing that the journey towards fulfilling our promise to improve the quality of life of our people is contained in the BIG 5 Priority National Development Agenda of my Government. It was a nostalgic moment for me today as I returned to my Alma Mater, @AmericanU, in Washington DC since I left in 2002. I delivered a Keynote Lecture titled: “Building a Prosperous and Secured Future through Human Capital Development - The #SierraLeone Example.” Speaking to a diverse audience, including the President of the University, students and faculty members and two of my former professors, I shared my Government’s legacy-based approach to solving our challenges through Human Capital Development. Over 80 Sierra Leoneans were appointed by Pres. EBK in 2015 to review our 1991 constitution and make recommendations for a new one. This committee produced over 680 pages report with recommendations. We are continuing with the process. Not a new review.

This Govt should take full responsibility for destroying the Leones. In 2018 when they assumed power, the exchange rate to the US$ was at Le 7.50, today it's at Le 23.55. The mathematics is clear for all to see. Take responsibility and fix the country.
