Sierra Leone Suspended Auditor General whom a “questionable” tribunal has recommended for her removal, #LaraTaylorPearce has spoken.
Since the government is refusing to make the report of the “contended” tribunal public, both the suspended Auditor General and former Deputy have decided to tell their own stories.
She explained that the tribunal started public sittings in March 2022 following their suspension in November 2021 but that the case for the suspension was only made known to them in June 2022.
However, she said she submitted an over forty-five-page comprehensive written response to the Tribunal to explain the facts, noting that the matters brought up pertaining to her as Auditor General, during that twenty-one-month period, had to do with third party verification issues for a Compliance audit, and a regular audit management procedure for which no evidence was adduced nor were any witnesses called to support any of the other allegations.
According to her, although allegations of leaking of information was made against her, it was not presented in the tribunal, denying that she has ever done that.
Like her deputy, she has asked the Attorney General and Minister of Justice to produce the evidence of her professional misdeeds to reputable international audit institutions where she is a member.

Today Tuesday 28th May 2024, the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL) held a fruitful meeting with the Cross-Party Committee on Electoral Systems and Management Bodies Review (Tripartite) at New Brookfields hotel in Freetown.
@ECsalone Konneh haven’t you seen what has been going on around the subregion lately, where democracy& the rule of law have been dethroned as in Guinea, Mali, Burkina Faso, &Sudan? Why can’t you produce the disaggregated data of the June 2023 elections? Don’t you know that electoral fraud

The next national elections in Sierra Leone will be held in 2028, according to @PresidentBio
The president, who was speaking at a ceremony in Bo, accused some politicians of propagating false information that another election would be held in the country and that they would be coming out in June.
He said the country belongs to everyone, and a group of people will not decide to cause confusion and make the lives of others miserable.
"We came through ballots, and anyone who comes with a bullet, you will be sent back with a bullet," he warned.
Some members of the main opposition All People's Congress have been claiming that the Tripartite Committee was set up to ensure that a rerun of June 2023 is held, a claim the U.S Ambassador, Bryan Hunt has denied on public radio as one of the initiators of the Committee that was set up following concerns on the conduct of the June 2023 elections.
The Tripartite Committee on Electoral Systems and Management Bodies Review which comprises the opposition APC, the ruling SLPP, and the government is expected to complete its work and present a report to President Bio next month.

@LamranaAmadu@PresidentBio This seems like a distraction. He lacked confidence in his statements. He was pandering to his supporters by telling them exactly what they wanted to hear. The #AfricanBarAssiciation said they received disturbing conducts of the AGM of the Sierra Leone Bar Association including the election of new officers.
They noted that #SLBA must live with practical examples by organizing a free, fair and credible transition where Leaders truly and freely chosen by majority of Lawyers in Sierra Leone emerge.
They however appealed for calm, urging the outgoing Executive to work with Past Presidents and other relevant authorities of the Legal Profession in Sierra Leone to break the ice, calm nerves and forge a United Bar Association devoid of resentment and rancor.
@TumaGento@WaraSerry@SoeMarrah
What happened on Saturday May 18, in Kenema at the annual general meeting of the Sierra Leone Bar Association was nothing short of an election racketeering. The electoral fraud perpetuated against hundreds of lawyers was delicately planned and shamelessly executed by those who are opposed to reclaiming the independent voice of the bar association .
