@JoshReynolds24 This is an indictment on Nurse as much as it is on Morey. Nurse treated McCain like he was some old head playing in a rec league. Okc runs actual plays for McCain and they utilize his skill set. Instead Nurse rather put the ball in Grimes hands smh

I've no real interest in a Supergirl movie. The trailer looks like fairly standard safe-action-comedy CGI superhero fare to me. But I like movies, so genuinely, good luck to them. What has been interesting, though, is watching its lead star, Milly Alcock, seemingly fail to understand the assignment. It's not even that what she said was necessarily wrong. The point is that her job right now isn't to be "right" about everything. It's to help sell a product that cost hundreds of millions of dollars to as many people as possible. Stars of massive studio films really need media coaching on how to avoid picking fights while promoting a movie. It should begin with understanding that saying anything which can be perceived as attacking your audience is a really, really bad move. When asked about "fan backlash", it shouldn't be difficult to give some version of: "I love this character, and we put everything into making this film. I'm excited for fans to see it. I understand people can be passionate and opinionated, but that passion is why we get to make these movies in the first place". Easy. Isn't it? Making movies is a team sport. They require the blood, sweat and tears of thousands of people, most of whom you'll never know by name. The lead actor should be going to bat for every single one of them every time they step in front of the press. This means doing your best to be as likeable to as many people as possible.
Variety@Variety

Milly Alcock addresses the backlash she received after saying that “simply existing as a woman is something that people comment on. We have become very comfortable having this weird ownership of women’s bodies.” “I didn’t even say ‘men’ — I said ‘people!’” Alcock says. “And they got so angry. I was like, ‘You’re proving my point. You’re proving my point!’” “And [the backlash] is from a lot of people whose profiles have no photo, who are burner accounts. Or someone’s name and then ‘Dad of four, Christian,’ which is hilarious to me. But I mean, whose opinion do you really care about? If you’re pissing the right kind of people off, you’re doing OK.” wp.me/pc8uak-1lHi9I

@bjmathews38 @Fanimal_ If you put Maxey on that same Knicks team they are in the same position. Did you forget two years ago a healthy Maxey went into the garden and stole a game by himself? Too many hot takes immediately after a player doesn't perform well.

No I’m comparing point guard to point guard. It doesn’t matter what players were around Brunson in 2024 or 2026 he outplayed Maxey both times. He has a higher iq and better skill set. Maxey is not on that level. No All-NBA’s or deep playoff runs like Brunson. I blame Sixer fans for putting him on a level he doesn’t belong.

Love Maxey, want him to retire as a Sixer, but Joel Embiid is a human shield for his playoff stinkers. Tyrese was ass during the Knicks series and we’re supposed to pretend like his a hostage under the Joel & PG contracts

@bjmathews38 @Fanimal_ I think you comparing apples and oranges. Individual play is definitely affected by the players you have around you. Brunson life is made easier by the players he has. He has shooters, guys spacing the floor. Brunson is better. But his team is better suited.

I don’t know how you see that. Joel was still the most dominant big in the league that Maxey was able to play off of. Brunson led the series in ppg and didn’t have a dominant big carrying the offense. I played pro ball man. I can see when a teams game plan just shut you down over an injury. That’s what I saw with Maxey. He didn’t affect the game in any way. They were trying to use his pinky excuse early in the Celtics series when he was playing bad outside of game 2. Until Maxey learns how to affect the game with things other than scoring consistently you can build around him alll you want he is not leading the Sixers anywhere.

@bjmathews38 @Fanimal_ Being outplayed isn't an indictment on the player. I'd say two years ago when we played the Knicks Maxey outplayed Brunson. If Tobias wasn't on the team maybe they win the series. Point is he played bad but he was hurt. It's not an excuse, just a fact.

Yea speed not skill. Hence why he kept asking for screens? I don't know if you notice Maxey doesn't really have a DEEP enough bag to break down defenders. Brunson does that's the difference. He's not an above average defender. In the Boston series, that was PG's matchup and a lesser degree Kelly Oubre slowing down Jaylen Brown. Brown seeked out Maxey in mismatches because he's too small to guard him. That was the only time he matched up with Brown. Yes reinjured, but he was already playing through it in the Boston series. Yet, that wasn't used as an excuse. He just got outplayed bro.

@bjmathews38 @Fanimal_ His game is literally predicated on his speed. And Maxey is an above avg defender. Plenty of times in that Boston series he was matched up with Brown. Again, he reinjured the pinky against Boston heading into NY.

Just because you play a lot of mins doesn't mean your exerting the most energy. PG and VJ are the ones having to exert the most energy on defense. Maxey is not guarding the toughest matchups they hid him against the weakest offensive players. So he's chilling on that side of the ball. The same pinky injury he had against New York he was dealing with against Boston. Averaged 26 a game because he was going against a defense where he can exploit his matchup versus White, Pritchard, and Schierman.

@bjmathews38 @Fanimal_ No one gets absolved from criticism when you get smoked and swept... But there should be context. Context like Maxey played more mins than anyone in the NBA. He reinjured his finger at the end of the Boston series. The Knicks were daring other players to beat them.

@Fanimal_ Tyrese Maxey averaged 18 ppg and shot 15% from the 3 and got outplayed by Jalen Brunson. He literally had no impact outside of three quarters the entire series. I don't know why people think he is absolved from the majority of the criticism not playing like a 1st option.

Reading a lot of these replies tells me people still aren’t ready to “just move on” from Joel Embiid. People want to move on for the right price. I don’t think the Sixers, if they plan on moving Embiid, can be picky. His injuries, years, and money put them in a bad spot
NBACentral@TheDunkCentral

People around the league think a Joel Embiid-for-Domantas Sabonis trade could work, per @JakeLFischer “One longshot scenario that does get mentioned by rival team strategists is an Embiid-for-Domantas Sabonis swap with Sacramento … but even longshot might be underselling it. Both former All-Star big men could probably use a fresh start, but there's just no getting around the fact that Embiid, at 32, seems incapable of holding up for a deep playoff run. Which certainly shortens the list of potential suitors.” (Via substack.com/redirect/2/eyJ…)

This surprises me. I felt coaching was a bigger issue for Philly than roster construction. OKC unlocking McCain immediately upon acquiring him is a pretty negative reflection on how Nurse was using him, and historically speaking, GMs fare better when they pick their coach.
Shams Charania@ShamsCharania

Head coach Nick Nurse will continue in his role into a fourth season with the 76ers, sources tell ESPN. Four-time NBA championship architect Bob Myers, the president of sports for Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment, will be tasked to lead the search for the new head executive for the 76ers and he will oversee the franchise's basketball department in the interim.

@NovaSufferer @TheDunkCentral @JakeLFischer As much as we love Embiid he's a negative asset. No one is giving you anything good for a player that might max out at 40 games a year and won't make it through a serious playoff run

Sabonis played 19 games this year lol. Also, why would u run back a worse version of this year’s team??? That’s the BIGGEST waste of time ever. Before Embiid, the Sixers were garbage and with him they are a consistent playoff team. Once he leaves they go right back to garbage. Idk where this entitlement comes from where ppl think they get rid of Embiid and continue to be a playoff team with Maxey leading. -With Maxey leading the Sixers they will genuinely be pathetic and never win squat 😂😂😂😂😂

It’s interesting how many generations of bad decisions contributed to Philly’s predicament. Hinkie gave them an almost foolproof asset surplus. But Colangelo traded for Fultz. And Brand chose Tobias/Simmons over Jimmy. And Brown traded Bridges. And Morey signed those contracts.

I dont get the whole discourse of "you're gonna need to attach 1sts to get rid of Embiid's contract". There's probably like 10 teams in the NBA that would trade for Embiid right now, especially seeing that his knee has been holding up for a while.

@Illadelph83 Did you watch McCain early in the year? He couldn't get by me! He shot 39 percent on 2s as a Sixer! He was shooting tour dates when they gave him the ball in G-League. The biggest issue was not being patient with him, since it clearly took him some time to shake off that injury.
