Catholic convert who had enough of the unscriptural, ahistorical Protestant nonsense, circular arguments, & conspiracy theories.

This has been my exact and consistent experience. I’ve met many Catholics who are now protestant, and vice versa. But what’s notable isn’t the numbers: it’s the quality. Invariably, whenever I inquire into the knowledge these ex-Catholics had about the Catholic Faith, it is shockingly bad, and most of them rarely even took the time to learn what the Church actually taught in any serious way. On the other hand, I’ve met and known of many protestant converts who were deeply formed in their faith, took it seriously, were constantly diving deep, and in that process discovered they had to become Catholic, for that was the only way all the true things they learned as a protestant could find fulfillment.

Plenty of smart Protestants go to (Protestant) seminary and are confirmed in their views. Plenty of smart Catholics go to seminary and are confirmed in our views. Neither of these facts is surprising or particularly persuasive. But there are also many smart and seemingly holy, devout Protestants who study theology and Church history and they realize they have to become Catholic. This happens with enough frequency that entire books have been written about the phenomenon, as well as collections of testimonies. I personally know several former Protestant pastors who are now Catholic. I don't know of anysmart and seemingly holy, devout Catholics who study theology and Church history and realized they needed to become Protestant. To be clear, I know plenty of former Catholics (most of them now non-religious, some of them now Protestant), but invariably they didn't know or believe Catholic teaching even *before* they left the Church, and most will tell you that. I think this should be cause for reflection on both sides. On the one hand, there's clearly a problem within Catholicism of not forming the next generation well enough (this is improving, but there's a lot of work to do). And I think if I was a Protestant I would be alarmed by the fact that the more people look at the evidence, the more likely they are to conclude that Protestantism is false and Catholicism is true.

@bartcf1 I'm aware of the nuances. But you're still protesting against Christ's Church and apostolic authority given to it by Christ.

Your church’s own teachings squarely contradict this. See Unitatis redintegratio and lumen gentium from Vacitan II, as well as the Catechism. We are not enemies but baptized Christians that the Church treats with “respect and affection.” While we are in “imperfect communion” with the church, we are also “members of Christ’s body.”

Don’t assume that all protestants disagree about everything. I can go to any Protestant church and worship the Lord just fine. We don’t disagree about stuff. And one of the reasons we have Bible Studies in our homes, is so we can discuss anything we want to discuss. I’ve never been to a Bible Study where we disagreed about anything and the Bible study was ruined or we never met again. I’ve been in the same two Bible Studies for 30 years and 20 years respectively. I’ve learned a lot about the Bible and made lifelong friends.

You and a fellow Protestant both read the same Bible, both pray sincerely for the Holy Spirit's guidance, and yet come to opposite conclusions about a doctrine that cannot be true both ways, such as baptismal regeneration. Which of you is mistaken? How would either of you know? And if both of you appeal to Scripture alone to defend your conflicting interpretations, what authority outside your own private judgment can definitively resolve the dispute?

@bartcf1 If you're intentionally outside of Christ's Church in protest to it, you're an enemy of Christ & His Bride in that sense.

Not really. Yes, I'm a "protestant," in that I belong to a denomination that is traceable to a schism born from "protesting" certain aspects of the Catholic church 500 years ago. But I, like most protestants, do not "protest" the Catholic Church in the sense that I do not advocate against the Church or actively try to dissuade others from its teachings, even those aspects I disagree with. I still view Catholics as my brothers and sisters in Christ who preach and bring others to a salvific faith in Christ, and that is what matters to me. Hence why I celebrate anyone nonbeliever becoming a Catholic, and am largely indifferent to any protestant joining the Catholic Church. I hope the Catholic Church grows and continues bringing others to Christ. No sense in making others out to be enemies when they're not.

@InHocSigno312 @JoshuaTCharles @OMBReviews No, I don’t want to pray to Mary, pray to icons, nor do I believe Muslims and Christians worship the same God. Peter is cool but if not for the Roman Empire he would not have the first anything.

As a Japanese, I can't wrap my head around what's happening in the UK. Hundreds of thousands of young girls raped by grooming gangs. Fathers who reported it got arrested. Citizens told to stay quiet. If this happened here in Japan, it would already be a civil war. Why isn't the British military staging a coup? What are they even doing? This makes absolutely no sense to us. Can any British person explain this madness?

I want people finally held to account for what has been done to our country. Civil servants, judges, politicians. If they have knowingly placed unvetted dangerous third world savages in our communities, near our children, then a Restore Britain Government will aim to prosecute them. If that includes Reform’s Robert Jenrick and Suella Braverman, then so be it. When they held the power - they welcomed that Sudanese monster into our country and handed him a visa. An attempted beheading followed their decision. Those responsible must be held to account. And I want to send a very clear message to officials planning to place more of these men in communities across Britain - near schools, nurseries, families. When Restore Britain wins the next election, we will pursue you with the full power of the state. That will apply retrospectively. If those in power are made to feel the consequences of their decisions, the quality of those decisions will improve. We are so far past half-measures now, the country is too far gone. Britain needs a democratic revolution. That is exactly what Restore Britain is going to do.

🇬🇧 UK Police officer says to a partially deaf man that his words might be considered as a "hate crime": — You've said "Speak English"? What was that? — No, "Speak clearly." — He’s partially deaf. He asked you to speak clearly. — Potentially, someone could perceive that as a hate crime. Sure, this one is easy to arrest 👍

@ZeroOmegaX @michaeljknowles So you guys fawn over Galatians 1:8, right? Who was it that came to Constantine in a vision? And what did this angelic being say? Oh, that's right, conquer and kill in the name of the cross. Who was it that caused the Nicean Council? Constantine.

This is a perfect example of modern Protestantism. Jesus says the one who enters the kingdom is the one who does the will of the Father. Modern Protestants hear this and say, "Christ did it all," as if His obedience means they are free to ignore His commands and continue living in sin. Then they call obedience "pharisaical" and mistake complacency for faith. They do not want Christ’s commands. They want Christ’s mercy as a cover for rebellion.
