Last week, @andyyy, an OG Chad Thought Leader when it comes to L2s and scalability, asked an astute question: "What happened to Bitcoin L2s???" Very fair question. We've seen many projects label themselves as Bitcoin L2s that have gone on to do...not very much. When it comes to finding traction as a Bitcoin ecosystem chain, we see a few must-haves: 1 Inheriting Bitcoin security Bitcoin-scaling chains today are about where Ethereum-scaling chains were 5 years ago, with @0xPolygon leading a wave of projects that made Ethereum faster and cheaper, but before @arbitrum @Optimism and others built the necessary tech to inherit Ethereum security. In other words, Andy: when it comes to Bitcoin L2s, you're just a little early. :-) As of today, there are ZERO projects that can legitimately call themselves Bitcoin L2s. For now, they're all ostensibly sidechains (GOAT Network included). The reason for this is that no chain has succeeded in inheriting native Bitcoin security. Doing so requires finding the right technical and architectural approach, and some next-level Dev work to bring that approach to life. We see the BitVM model pioneered by @robin_linus as the best way forward. To that end, GOAT Network has been working on its own BitVM2 stack. Once it's ready for prime time, we will imbue our native bridge with that BitVM technology, enabling GOAT to truly inherit Bitcoin security. As such, ZK Proofs are the way forward for Ethereum. We agree. And the exact same thought applies to Bitcoin. Users shouldn't have to wait weeks, days, or even hours to move their BTC. They should be able to do so in seconds. Here again, we're early. The good news is that progress is being made. For the simple reason that they are not Bitcoin. Bitcoin is the King of all Assets, outperforming everything else by a gigantic margin over the past decade and a half, and gaining in importance daily as rampant inflation, government malfeasance, and other factors conspire to drive fiat value off a cliff.
