Intuitive Machines has been awarded up to $10M from the Space Exploration and Research Fund (SEARF) to drive space innovation. The grant supports the development of an Earth reentry vehicle and orbital fabrication lab—critical tech for microgravity biomanufacturing and future lunar missions. Honest review that’s going to sound like a paid endorsement because well, it kind of is: 🧵 I’ve had the @fold_app debit card for two whole weeks now today. I’ve been migrating purchases that I would otherwise make on other cards (or just pay via my bank’s bill pay/ACH or check) to deliberately paying with Fold instead, to take advantage of the Bitcoin reward system, and it’s working beautifully. Side note: if you’re new to Bitcoin and you don’t know what a “sat” is, it’s a fractional unit of Bitcoin and is short for Satoshi, named for one of the original developers of Bitcoin. It takes 100 million Satoshi to equal 1 Bitcoin. If that sounds like a lot, don’t worry. There are only 21 million Bitcoin that will ever exist, so “stacking sats” is a great way to get off of zero and start building something.

🧵1/2: Flight controllers confirmed that Athena completed lunar orbit insertion with enough accuracy to forego the IM-2 mission's optional lunar correction maneuver. Athena continues to be in excellent health, completing lunar orbits every two hours, waiting for the sun to rise on her intended south pole region landing site, Mons Mouton. Athena’s next planned maneuver is Descent Orbit Insertion (DOI), which is designed to lower her orbit to make a landing attempt at 11:32 on March 6.

📸🧵1/4: Athena continues to be in excellent health in lunar orbit. Overnight, flight controllers calibrated Athena’s landing navigation cameras, which are designed to autonomously track her position and detect hazards during landing.

Athena successfully entered her intended circular orbit around the Moon on March 3. Flight controllers expect Athena to complete 39 lunar orbits until her south pole region landing site has adequate sunlight to power surface operations. Intuitive Machines expects a landing opportunity on March 6 at 11:32 a.m. CST.
