Working in 100-degree heat is hard enough, even when you don't have to crawl inside a dirty boiler! Jerry Glueck served on board the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid (CVS-11) from 1972–1974. Boilermen like Jerry worked in the ship’s firerooms, also called boiler rooms, making the steam that powered Intrepid.
