They're wrong about 007: First Light The anti-woke crowd is sometimes just as bad as the wokies we protest. I've played over 5 hours of 007: First Light, and here's my thoughts. After being boxed around from DEI politics in the past years, we're all so damn tired of DEI initiatives in gaming. Me included. So much so to the point where many people see race swapped characters and it's an instant cancel. I get it, though. Nobody wants Black Snape. Was I put off at first with BlingPenny and Pakistani M? Yup. And then I played the game. And being a Bond fan, this game delivers a true Bond experience. This isn't soy boy Bond like I thought it would be. This Bond fucks and is a certified badass. I think doing an original Bond story is wildly refreshing. Sean Connery is the true Bond and Pierce Brosnan is the coolest Bond -- what else can you do? What the writers did was deliver a unique story...the origin of 007. Pressured by the shadowy DEI initiatives that plagues the gaming industry (and will sadly continue to do so), the writers haven't let that seep into the elements past the casting. Q is a true Q. Pakistani M is kinda hot. BlingPenny isn't annoying. You could argue that women in power in modern day media is a woke idealogy, however they made M a woman with Judi Dench. Are you not going to watch any Pierce Brosnan Bond movies now? I disagree with cancel culture, but it works both ways. While I firmly believe in voting with our wallets, and games like Dragon Age: Veilguard are appalling, I think we should critically analyze each game for ourselves going forward. Seeing a black MoneyPenny isn't enough reason to boycott this game. Some people are saying GTA 6 is gonna be woke because it features a woman. We gotta be careful that we don't become like the radicals we are protesting. Could I find some wild woke elements in the next 5 hours of this game? I'll eat my words if so. However, the feeling I'm getting from it is while they had to check the boxes and fulfill certain initiatives, for the most part they've given us James Bond. And they let Bond be Bond.

007 First Light isn't a true James Bond game. It's 'Rise of the Shadow of the Stranding of the Uncharted Duty of Us'. You don't get to 'play' until the 2:55 mark. Then it's just a linear 'move L' experience. Climbing sections are even marked with white paint. A game with such a lack of identity can't succeed commercially.

This was roughly when I realized just how dead Bethesda is, as a company. A game completely void of any grit, personality, or edge. Neon is the DRUG CAPITAL OF THE UNIVERSE in Starfield's lore: you expect to see some heavy shit when you walk into its biggest nightclub. Instead you get... whatever the fuck this is. A "nightclub" created by a corpo who's never actually *seen* a nightclub: the guy who takes a 45 minute detour to avoid the black neighborhoods on his way into work because he's scared of the poors. While it's easy to write this off as Bethesda just being run by middle aged men who are out of touch, it's also important to realize that this level of sanitization, soul sucking lifelessness is also the product of DEI. DEI, or "inclusion," is essentially ridding games of anything that can be deemed as too "unsafe" or edgy, because consumers are treated like numbers rather than people with preferences and desires. It's sanitization for the sake of not potentially offending financial investors, paired with the vague hope of 1 more person deciding to buy their "inclusive" corporate slop products.
