ESPN Sources: Sacramento Kings G Malik Monk has suffered a sprained right MCL and is expected to miss four-to-six weeks. Monk — who’s had a career-best season — needs a Kings run in the Western Conference playoffs to return this season.

New viz #datafam!📢💥Time for another Superstore dashboard, this time I came up with a handy comparison tool. Might not look like it, but it's using a very nifty trick that allows for full customization of comparison groups. Check it out! tinyurl.com/eevspj6n

@EpleySamuel @tableau My toxic trait is thinking I could still shoot 75% from the line despite not practicing free throws in a decade 😂 Love this viz and the commitment!

🏀🎉 I just published a new visualization titled "Can I Make Free Throws?" in an effort to measure my ability to hit free throws. 🎉🏀 This viz, a part of the #QuantifiedSelf movement, was built using @Tableau. Over the course of my playing career from middle school through my freshman year of high school, I was an inconsistent free throw shooter. From what I recall, I would only make about 50% of my shots from the charity stripe. Last month, I was at Fort Dix, NJ for a military training with the @MNNationalGuard. One morning, I went to a gym on post that had a basketball court and wanted to see how well I could perform from the free throw line. I recorded a 50 minute video of myself shooting free throws and wanted to analyze the data to see how well I did. I wanted to see how well I could hit free throws to compare myself against @NBA players who got to the free throw line the most. Standing at 5' 11" with little to no vertical leaping ability and not having played a refereed game of basketball for 16+ years, how good of a foul shooter am I? Time for some insights! - Through the 245 shots, I hit 54.7% of my free throws. In other words, I shouldn't quit my day job to try my hand at playing professional basketball! - My free throw make percentage was slightly better than @SHAQ and Wilt Chamberlain (#3 and #4 in the NBA/ABA record books in terms of career free throw attempts). Those players hit 52.7% and 51% of their career free throws, respectively. - My longest streak of made free throws was 7. There were eleven stretches of 10 free throws where I went 80% from the line. Thankfully, my longest streak of consecutive misses was limited to 5. With this @TableauPublic dashboard, explore nearly 250 free throw attempts recorded through this session. #DataFam #Tableau #Basketball #Hoops #FreeThrow #SportsVizSunday 🔗: public.tableau.com/views/CanIMake…

My first viz on #TableauPublic in quite some time. Built out my version of the #NBA Immaculate Grid utilizing dynamic zone visibility, dynamic web images, and a whole lot of parameter actions. tinyurl.com/zv85k3m6

The last 90 seconds of the game took 33 real time minutes. There were as many reviews (5) as field goals (5) in that span.

@jreevers5 If you can cheat by sorting on the name: make the first value in column A = 1. Then in the second row create a calc that checks if the name in the second row equals the name in the prior row. If it does, pull the number value from the prior row, otherwise add 1 to the prior value

#datafam, please help me. haha. I pride myself in being an Excel wiz and right now my brain stopped working.... How do I get an Index of Distinct values? I want the number to correspond to the order of events or in this example names. Anyone??

@_jphwang I think these are a more engaging type of graphic to a broader (non data-savvy) audience, not necessarily the best way to communicate the data. All I was getting at 😁

@_jphwang I just think the names should be removed - anyone who’s actually looking at these should know the players, and the labels make it a bit busy.
