A explosão vaporizou coral, areia e água do oceano. Todo esse material se transformou em fallout radioativo e se espalhou por uma área muito maior do que a prevista. Os atóis habitados de Rongelap e Utrik foram atingidos. As evacuações chegaram tarde demais.

📷 BIG NEWS FOR THE HAM RADIO COMMUNITY! 📷
📷 WSJT-X 3.0 Stable Has Arrived!
The wait is over! The legendary weak-signal communication software WSJT-X has reached version 3.0 Stable — and it's a game-changer, especially if you're operating under challenging band conditions!
📷 WHY WSJT-X 3.0 SHINES IN HIGH-NOISE ENVIRONMENTS:
📷 Enhanced FT8 & FT4 decoding algorithms — pulls signals out of the noise floor
like never before, achieving decodes at -24 dB SNR and beyond.
📷 Improved multi-decoder engine — simultaneously processes more signals in a
crowded, noisy band, reducing missed QSOs.
📷 Better RFI rejection — smarter signal processing helps filter out man-made
electrical noise and QRM from nearby stations.
📷 Optimized AP (A Priori) decoding — uses known callsign data to decode signals
that would otherwise be lost in the noise.
📷 Refined frequency calibration — tighter frequency accuracy means cleaner
decodes even when propagation is marginal.
📷 Low-power DXing made easier — work the world with just 5W even when the bands
sound completely dead!
Whether you're dealing with urban QRM, solar flux challenges, or just a noisy shack,
WSJT-X 3.0 gives you the edge to make those contacts happen! 📷
Download it now at wsjt.sourceforge.io/wsjtx.html
and get on the air!

Until very recently we only had ice core data on CO₂ and methane concentrations for the past 800,000 years.
Ground breaking work by scientists now provides us with insight into the atmosphere of 3 million yrs ago!

NASA posted an ARTEMIS II crew photograph that I think is one of the best I have seen. This is the continent of Antarctica.
The area around the continent is clear. This is the Southern Ocean that circles Antarctica. The cold air and water tend to rob the moisture in the air. No clouds.
In the middle left of the photo is the Antarctica Peninsula.
To the left of the peninsula is Tierra del Fuego. Continuing up the upper left of the photo is the Atlantic coast of South America.
The land mass in the lower right is probably New Zealand.

BREAKING: "FULLY UNHINGED!" — Hillary Clinton SLAMS Trump’s social media meltdowns, warns allies think America has "lost its mind."
Hillary Clinton has finally had enough. The woman whom Donald Trump somehow defeated in his first presidential run can no longer hold her tongue when faced with his devastatingly bizarre and institutionally destructive behavior that harms both our system of government and our nation as a whole.
"Trump has become fully unhinged, and we should talk about it," Clinton posted on X — after which she made a beeline to an appearance on MS Now’s Morning Joe and explained exactly what she meant, with the calm fury of someone who has spent decades watching American institutions be tested and knows what it looks like when they're breaking.
Clinton said reading Trump's social media posts left her "shaking my head and feeling sick at heart." And the receipts are not hard to find. In the past week alone, Trump threatened to destroy "a whole civilization" over a shipping deadline he set himself on Truth Social, attacked Pope Leo — the first American pope in history — and compared himself to Jesus Christ on social media. "When you look at the last week of unhinged rants coming from Trump's social media account, it's just disgraceful," Clinton said.
Hillary reserved particular contempt for Trump and Vance's constant invocations of "Western Civilization" — a phrase they deploy like a weapon while apparently having no idea what it actually means. "I don't think they've ever taken a course in Western Civilization," Clinton said flatly. "Western civilization has a real meaning. It is a meaning about our values, our institutions — how we hold leaders accountable so they don't become autocrats and dictators, and how they don't lead us into reckless wars."
On the Iran negotiations — the talks that just collapsed in Pakistan after 21 hours with no deal — Clinton, who helped lay the groundwork for the original Iran nuclear agreement under Obama, was surgical: "You know, two of them, Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff, they're supposed to solve Ukraine, Iran, Gaza. It's a joke." She noted that real diplomacy requires "hours of sitting in a chair" doing hard, disciplined work — something she knows that Trump and his minions are "unable to do."
And then came the warning that should be on the front page of every newspaper in the world: America's closest allies, Clinton said, "believe we've lost our minds." They wake up every morning, like the rest of us, and see the president of the United States ranting on social media, threatening civilizations, attacking the Pope, and comparing himself to Jesus. "A figure of such authority," she said, "making no sense half the time."
Those allies are now strengthening their own defenses and building up the European Union — because they have concluded they can no longer rely on the United States as long as this man is in charge.
The former Secretary of State who negotiated with world leaders, who sat in those chairs for hours, who helped build the diplomatic architecture that Trump is now burning to the ground — she is watching all of it, reading the posts, and feeling sick.
It’s a feeling that’s quite familiar to anyone except Trump’s most hardcore MAGA followers — and the only remedy is Trump’s impeachment and removal from office, unless, of course, a higher power intervenes to stop the blasphemy by natural causes.
Please like and share this story if you think "fully unhinged" is a fairly generous description of a president who threatened to destroy a civilization and then compared himself to Jesus in the same week.

This article explicitly challenges the argument that greater hurricane damages are a result of increased coastal exposure: “We found that, for billion-dollar Tropical Cyclones, even controlling for similar levels of coastal development, Marine Heat Wave Tropical Cyclones cause significantly higher damages than their counterparts, confirming that their enhanced intensity characteristics amplify economic impacts beyond what would be expected from exposure alone.”

The EPA and Big Oil Are celebrating. The Pacific is not. A super El Niño may be building — possibly the strongest in 140 years. On top of the hottest decade ever recorded. Here's what that means.

@AndrewDessler Other failed predictions, in case @MichaelEMann is curious.

For example, Matt Ridley (@mattwridley) predicted less than 0.5°C of warming for the 30 years following 1995.
Then he admitted ~0.8°C happened:

Why do they keep lying about ice increasing?
It's funny, they clearly don't even bother trying to learn, and it's always uneducated reich wingers...
Here's total sea ice, PIOMAS, and GRACE Antarctic and Greenland ice.
See any "increases"???

@25_cycle @Jb76240434 @ClimatePNowak Again so angry..you cannot put a square peg in the a round hole. If the predictions & computer models were so right why do they continue to fall..polar bears are still here, ice is increasing in places that were supposed to be ice free by 2020, on and on..I get it you’re invested

Earth's Energy Imbalance and Absorbed Solar Radiation figures are updated. We used the first 10 years for the base period in previously published papers, but now I switched to the 2001-2010 means. The 13-month meana at the end are too short, but they are just for fun. The data source is CERES ceres.larc.nasa.gov. For more details, see columbia.edu/~mhs119/EEI/.

A long-period radio transient active for three decades

Astronomers have uncovered a baffling astronomical anomaly that has been quietly pulsing through our solar system for decades. Deep within archival radio telescope data, scientists discovered a repeating signal originating 15,000 light-years away that has been flashing exactly every 22 minutes since at least 1988.
What makes this discovery so incredibly perplexing is that it completely defies our current understanding of physics. The most likely candidate for this type of rhythmic pulse is an ultra-long-period magnetar—a rare type of highly magnetic, collapsed dead star. However, according to standard astrophysical models, this specific star spins far too slowly to generate such powerful radio emissions.
For nearly four decades, this celestial object has been operating well below the theoretical "death line," a threshold where a star should lack the energy to send out radio waves. Yet, it continues to consistently beam these high-energy signals toward Earth like a cosmic clock, forcing researchers to fundamentally rethink how these exotic stellar remnants function.
While scientists maintain that this is a natural, albeit highly unusual, astrophysical process rather than an intentional message from extraterrestrial intelligence, it serves as a humbling reminder of the universe's complexity. It proves that space is full of weird, wild phenomena that challenge our most established scientific laws.
This enduring mystery highlights the sheer power of patient observation and advanced data analysis. It leaves astronomers incredibly excited about what other hidden cosmic secrets are simply waiting for our technology to catch up and decode them.
Do you think this mysterious signal is just a rare natural phenomenon, or something entirely unknown to modern science?
