Congratulations to Greg Moriarty on his appointment as our Ambassador to the US. I worked closely with Greg during my time as Defence Minister, when Greg served as the Secretary of the Department of Defence. I admired his work as our Ambassador to Indonesia and his saintly skills as a chief of staff. I wish him well in his work with our most important ally.

A huge congratulations to all of the 2026 Australians of the Year, but especially Australian of the Year and the first Austonaut to fly under the 🇦🇺 flag, Katherine Bennell-Pegg. (Katherine may have been nominated from SA but she was born in Sydney so we're claiming her!)

Oh, please, just when you might have thought the Australia Day honours couldn’t possibly get any more laughably politicised, weaponised, and utterly discredited… along comes the cherry on top: eSafety Karen herself—yes, the very same one currently sweating under a US Congress subpoena for her starring role in what’s charmingly described as an alleged international censorship cartel hell-bent on trampling the US Constitution—is being “honoured” with a shiny Public Service Medal. How utterly predictable. How richly deserved. 🙄 Public servants already raking in over $450K a year—plus the inevitable gold-plated expenses paid for by the long-suffering taxpayer—clearly can’t be expected to survive without a little pat on the back for faithfully executing whatever diktat the government dreams up this week. .But fine, if eSafety Karen simply must be decorated like some heroic freedom-fighter, then let’s at least make the citation honest for once: "For exceptional services to global censorship, the relentless erosion of freedom of speech, and enthusiastic promotion of authoritarian vibes. Special commendation for spectacularly wasting millions of taxpayers' dollars on frivolous, face-planting court cases in a delusional quest to censor the entire internet from her cosy Canberra throne—and, as a delightful bonus, for her bold involvement in that noble international plot to subvert the 1st Amendment of the US Bill of Rights."

New polling shows that 68% of us are backing January 26 — up from just 47% two years ago. Even the younger generation is on board, with 55% of 18-34s wanting to keep the date. Whether you're 18 or 80, it's a day for all of us. It's a time to celebrate what makes us great. senroberts.com/4beeLdX

@chaser Anzacs specifically fought for a White Australia, literally every wartime prime minister said so. National Socialists want a White Australia too.

Big congratulations to all the nominees and winners of Logan City Australia Day Awards that we recognised and celebrated today. So proud to see Caitlin Wheatley receive the Young Citizen of the Year award, having seen firsthand the power of her experience and advocacy in our community. Grateful for the opportunity to say a few words at the citizenship ceremony as well. Happy Australia Day everyone.

Australia, meet your 2026 Australian of the Year, Katherine Bennell-Pegg. When Katherine was in high school, she was asked to write down three things she wanted to do when she grew up. She wrote down only one: astronaut. In 2024, Katherine became the first person to qualify as an astronaut under the Australian flag. Meaning she is now eligible for future missions to the International Space Station. Katherine is a respected leader in her field and an inspiration to the next generation of Australian scientists, engineers and astronauts. In every way possible, Katherine shows her fellow Australians what we can achieve when we reach for the stars.
