@RNGebhardt @AlexBerenson They shouldn’t be. The liability and educational requirements for an NP is much lower than for a physician.
They’re given equal rights by some hospitals as a way to save money.
English

@AlexBerenson And in states where NPs have almost all the same prescribing, diagnosing and examining privileges as physicians with independent practice, the NPs are not paid the same as physicians.

THIS IS AN INCREDIBLE AND AMAZING THREAD
AMERICAN DOCTORS ARE HUGELY OVERPAID COMPARED TO PHYSICIANS IN OTHER COUNTRIES. WORSE, THE WAY THEY’RE PAID DRIVES UP COSTS FOR THE ENTIRE SYSTEM.
But everyone is afraid to take them on.
Crémieux@cremieuxrecueil
Today the American Society of Anesthesiologists won a fight to continue defrauding Americans by overcharging them for care. So let's talk anesthesiologists. They are notorious for "surprise billing", where they charge an out-of-network rate at an in-network facility. Thread.
English

@fuzzymittens I wouldn’t want to interact with someone who irons their umbrellas.
English

@DRitterMD The problem is more of the insane liability that we’re held to. ER docs just respond to that pressure. Malpractice reform is what’s needed. Not having ER docs cut back on workups to save hospitals money while nothing else changes.
English

@blondemedSJW @barbscass Yep. You knew something horrible was going to happen, but there was no way for anyone to stop it.
English

@barbscass Being a child star really shouldn’t be legal. I’d love to say I never saw this coming but I did.

@KurteL10 I do. If they’re truly septic, I don’t see how you could defend yourself if there were a bad outcome. Plus many urine cultures grow out as “likely contaminated”, whereas I see this much less often in blood cultures.

@katz_2022 @denise_dewald The republicans are refusing to acknowledge that it was a terrorist attack. Sitting Congress members refused to take it seriously.
English

@JAFERDIAN @denise_dewald When JFK was murdered, we survived. When Reagan was shot, we survived. We WILL be ok. A handful of goobers and a poorly organized Capitol storming do not a serious insurrection attempt make. And, even if it were, the vast majority of us would stand AGAINST it and for America.
English

@katz_2022 @denise_dewald This entire process has been people telling us to calm down. We have openly pro-Putin politicians and right wing pundits getting mainstream support. We’ve had multiple attempted assasinations and a terrorist insurrection. There is a very, very good chance we won’t be OK.
English

@denise_dewald I think we'll be ok. We do need to stop the doomsday messaging, viewing one party or another as 'the end' of democracy, and deciding we need to do away with SCOTUS or disavow an election when we don't get what we want. The more we act like mature adults indivdually, the better.
English

@jack_turban @AshleyGWinter Yep. The world is an increasingly joyless place. Let people be happy when they can be.
English

@efunkEM I also find it funny that they complain about what happens when they miss a 5 mm pull nodule in an 87 year old. Fair enough. But now we’re supposed to take the risk by not ordering imaging that’s indicated?
English

@Nunyabiz22 @pppforpatients @Conortmccartne1 @Suburbanbella @rosru924 @FollowingForFu2 Taz isn’t unemployed lol
English

@pppforpatients @Conortmccartne1 @Suburbanbella @rosru924 @JAFERDIAN @FollowingForFu2 I wanted to see who "liked" this dumb comment and see no MDs. Two of them blocked me, so I can't see, but I'm sure Taz (whiney unemployed MD) is one. You guys are a trip.
English

@fiatslug Especially in schools and airports. Like... two places where thousands of people congregate for hours at a time and then go forth and spread to others.
English

@SolNataMD Oh, I’m not saying the plan’s working the way the government wants it to. Just that this may have been the plan for a while.
English

@SolNataMD Hence the push for NPPs. Cheaper physician replacements. The government doesn’t care about the quality of “healthcare”, just the public’s perception that they have access to it.
English

@DrSomedayMaybe I can. Unfortunately it makes life so much easier for hospital admin. More $$$ for the hospital means lots of patient safety issues get overlooked. They’d force residents to live in apartment basements 24/7 if they could.
English

@reverendofdoubt Also, wasn’t high sensitivity trop supposed to do away with all this anyway?
And if I’m worried enough about someone to get a 6 hour trop, they’re getting admitted to the cardiac obs unit.
English

@PropaneFitness It’s so bizarre and creepy how many people are eager to cut off part of an infant’s genitals.
