Whatever people’s views about the concessions, surely everyone can see the process here is ALL wrong? Third Reading in eight days? A timetable like that diminishes the role of MPs in getting this legislation right, shuts out disabled people and puts too many at risk.

Just to be very clear, the amended and then amended again ‘pathways to work’ green paper remains an undemocratic travesty that will push 100,000s into worse precarity and cause huge mental and physical damage. It is vital that it is voted down. #TakingThePIP

A lot of people end up in hospital, get iller, self-harm more and some die by suicide if they need to appeal. This is not hyperbole, I can (literally) send you the ‘prevention of future deaths’ reports if a MP. Most cases fail at MR and have to go to tribunal. That takes a year.

Work on the #ME Delivery Plan — which the government claims will boost research, advance medical education and improve patients’ lives began more than three years ago. It has been delayed 3 times. Meanwhile 👇 must be a huge comfort to all #pwME whose lives have been decimated

@tessamunt @HelenMorganMP If they’re not going to invest in services to support pwME, or find treatments to help us live better lives, they need to give pwME an exemption from any of these benefit cuts being brought in. They can’t expect us to recover if we don’t have safe medical care or treatments.

Could the media please stop equating not slashing disability benefits quite so much with potentially needing to hike taxes in the autumn? This narrative fuels hate against disabled people. The public purse isn’t just benefits and taxes—there are countless other spending choices.

163 MPs signed a ‘reasoned amendment’ as ‘Pathways’: 1) will make 100,000s dangerously poor + cause misery 2) there has been no proper consultation process 3) there has been no proper impact assessment Point 1 is almost as true as on Tuesday. Point 2 + 3 are EVEN MORE true now.

NEW PROPOSAL The new proposal seems to be that the 4+ rule won’t count if you are an existing claimant but will count for new claimants. This would be a disaster and it is crucial MPs vote against the green paper and follow through on the ‘recommended amendment’. Why? 🧵1/2
