The road where I live doesn’t exist at this point in London’s development.

Fraser’s Panoramic Plan of #London 1831, before the railway’s, before Tower Bridge, before the Embankment, there’s even water in the Tower of London moat! Have a look!! (@YaleBritishArt )

@MrTimDunn @networkrail @GWRHelp Tim if you could make that work the rails would no longer buckle just expand into the additional space.
English

@networkrail @GWRHelp (There's a spare bit of Wiltshire that slots in to fill the gap either side, and on special occasions, the council at the Unitary Authority of Slough are empowered to extend their land by up to 100 metres to contribute.)

Fun fact! On VERY hot days like today, @networkrail steel rails on Brunel's GWR (connecting Bristol to London) expand SO much that Temple Meads & Paddington stations are forced almost 500m further apart. @GWRhelp's timetables increase by 1 minute to allow for extra distance.

@BlackCatMini Thanks you have a great job and not one that I could do. Keep up the great tweets.

Do you remember the other day I was saying about how the signals had failed on a stretch of line so a temporary method of working was setup to keep trains moving safely?
Well here comes a thread explaining how it works! It’s time for… #TallBlokeExplains

@RAIL @MrTimDunn Really good programme last night I had not heard that story. Thank you Tim. I vaguely remember the Serpel report that was advocating severe cuts in the West Country. We’re they connected at all?
English

Just listened to @MrTimDunn rather excellent BBCR4 documentary 'Lines of Duty' about a sly civil service attempt to shut down over half of our rail network in the early 1970s. It's a rollicking good political/railway yarn, very well told. Don't miss it - now on BBC Sounds.

Three superb winning images from the Young Railway Photographer of the Year Competition. Pic1 by Sean Mattocks. Pic2&3 by Bradley Langton (yes that is Harry Potter viaduct, Glenfinnan). An exhibition of 48 images inc all winners is in @RailwayMuseum then @LocomotionSHD from June.

Thank you all at #TwitterModelTrainShow for a great day of watching your layouts. I am trying to get back into railway modelling after about 40 years. Hopefully have some track laid soon.

What a view! We're not too sure, but it may be intended to represent Boddinick on the Fowey estuary - Has anyone got another guess?🤔💡

Looking up the Teign as I sped towards Teignmouth earlier aboard @GWRHelp @HitachiRailENG 802107.
