@ToddLencz @SashaGusevPosts This is true indeed but the paper mentions year-of-birth stratification. This forces the comparison of people having undergone the same temporal trends on a population-wide scale. These were then meta-analyzed to mostly account for these (which is an imperfect way) trends.

@SashaGusevPosts As for temporal effects, there may be changes to the way cases were classified over the course of different iterations of ICD, which might inflate the SCZ-BIP correlation and decrease the individual disorder heritability.

I wrote about how polygenic heritable conditions present in families and the liability threshold model. This has some counterintuitive implications for considering the risk of a condition in offspring as well as the impact of multi-generational selection. A 🧵:

@RJStrawbridge I am pretty sure these budget airlines have repeatedly been fined for their incentive/quota-based rejection of hand luggage at the gate. So, it sounds more than plausible to me.

Husbands take, the quarterly finance reports don't look good so they need to boost profits.... Cynical but plausible!

With the #easyjet plus (french) website being broken for over a month, this holiday has already cost us £120 more than it should. Now being charged for hand hand luggage that has been under my seat without problem regularly for the past 7 years?! What a piss take

@dr_appie I just want to see the latest scientific papers! I don't even follow other people but I keep getting spammed on Twitter with political nonesense that from people that I don't follow or even want to hear from :(

In our previous paper we introduced our method to understand the genetic contribution to the risk of cardiometabolic diseases in individuals with a psychiatric diagnosis. Here we took a deep dive in eatings disorders specifically. nature.com/articles/s4146…

Check out our new work for @cedar_research! Using the register data of 17 million Danes and Swedes we were able to estimate the genetic correlation between multiple eating- and psychiatric disorders. We found new correlations with autism and OCD! medrxiv.org/content/10.110…

I am happy to announce that our paper “Quantifying the relative importance of genetics and environment on the comorbidity between mental and cardiometabolic disorders using 17 million Scandinavians” is out in @NatureComms! nature.com/articles/s4146… 1/13

@Ella_Maru @NatureComms Thanks for reaching out! We didn't go that far. We really focussed on the register part and replicated the results using the genotype data.

@JMeijsen @NatureComms Great work, Joeri! Could the genetic variants in your study be linked to different inflammatory markers in individuals with both mental and cardiometabolic disorders?

@GitaPathakPhD Seems a bit harsh don't you think? Given that for most institutions, you are still considered, as a postdoc, to be a trainee...

Am I misremembering or was the registration fee for postdocs at the #WCPG always the same as for PhD students and trainees and never conditional on how long you are a postdoc? 🫤 Because if you are a postdoc for >2 years you pay full price ($800 for group A countries) #WCPG2023

I will end with this, we have set up a streamlined approach to calculate these estimates in both Sweden and Denmark, but we are always keen on extending our work to other disorders, countries, ancestry groups, disorders, and populations. If you are interested, let’s talk! 13/13
