NEWS ON THE BALLROOM -- The $1B for USSS is one of the most important things Republicans are dealing with right now. It is the single provision that is standing in the way of ICE/CBP funding. Trump wants this on his desk by June 1. But that's all been complicated by the $1B for security, including Trump's ballroom. Forget the House floor right now. it's irrelevant. all the action will begin when the Senate moves the reconciliation bill. As @LauraEWeiss16 scooped last night, Senate is not only changing the $1B language, but they are also considering lowering the number from $1B. Senate is engaged in a lot of Trump management right now. They know Trump wants the money but they also know that, in its current form, they cant pass it. The parliamentarian is a side show, for the most part. Because if the language ends up on the floor, it could easily come out during vote-a-rama. And here's the real kicker: The House is even trickier. Absences and opposition will kill this provision in the House. Johnson has been warned by rank and file. This won't fly. punchbowl.news/archive/51926-…

@emma_lingan She chirped him. He chirped back. No one should have an issue with what either person said.

NEW: Pac-12, Mountain West, and several schools have agreed to resolve their lawsuits through a settlement. They will pause litigation proceedings to negotiate the terms of an agreement.

Per court listings, Pac-12 and MW have reached a settlement in principle. No details, no docs and nothing finalized. Hearing scheduled for 6/9

I’m no lawyer, but as a spectator, engaging in settlement talks just a day before MW presidents’ emails were about to be put on full display tells me this was going to get extremely ugly.

Equal split is ~75 million. If 100m+, big win for MW. If 50m-, big win for P12. Settlement announced six weeks after judge compelled MW to turn over presidents' communications in discovery and one day before discovery hearing

@BlakeKrek @johnwcbragg @TBM_JY The early June settlement heavily favors the PAC. The PAC had all the time in the world while the MWC has a July 1 deadline to start making retention payments to the schools that stayed. This cost the MWC giving the PAC leverage.
