@JLazzy23 Close. @umichhockey and @UMichFootball both won National Championships (and Charles Woodson won the Heisman) in the 97-98 season.

CLIMB is essentially SAFE-lite with additional language amending the 34 Act. My personal concern is that it does not carve out an exemption for cannabis-related financial transactions from the definition of "specified unlawful activity" under § 1956(c)(7). Because cannabis manufacturing, distribution, and sale remain violations of the CSA—and the CSA is expressly listed as a predicate offense under both §§ 1956 and 1957—financial transactions involving cannabis proceeds would technically still constitute money laundering under those statutes. CLIMB functionally codifies prosecutorial discretion instead of creating a true statutory safe harbor from criminal liability. The underlying "criminal" conduct under §§ 1956 and 1957 wouldn't be decriminalized; rather, federal agencies would simply be prohibited from pursuing actions based on that conduct.
I applaud Congressman Carter's efforts and advocacy for the industry, but we really need a bill that amends the Bank Secrecy Act and related AML regulations.

🚨 Bipartisan CLIMB Act just reintroduced: US cannabis operators finally get safe-harbor banking, private capital, and NYSE/Nasdaq listings — the same tools Canadian firms have used for years.
Trump’s Dec EO on Schedule III + this bill = the real unlock. 425K+ American jobs. Billions in new tax revenue. End the 280E tax trap that’s crushed domestic players.
This isn’t “weedification.” It’s America-First policy letting US innovators compete.
Congress: Pass it fast.

THE U.S. GOVERNMENT PATENTED CANNABINOIDS FOR BRAIN PROTECTION. WHY IS NO ONE TALKING ABOUT IT?
In 2003, the U.S. government was awarded Patent 6,630,507: "Cannabinoids as Antioxidants and Neuroprotectants." It specifically mentions CBD, THC, and other cannabinoids as having the potential to:
✅ Reduce oxidative stress
✅ Protect brain cells
✅ Support recovery from stroke, trauma, and neurodegenerative diseases.
What is oxidative stress?
Your cells naturally produce free radicals — unstable molecules — when making energy.
Stress, poor diet, smoking, pollution, alcohol, UV exposure, and infections increase free radicals.
• When your body can't neutralize them fast enough, oxidative stress occurs.
Over time, oxidative stress damages
DNA, proteins, and cell membranes, contributing to:
• Faster aging
• Chronic inflammation
• Low immunity
• Brain & nerve decline.
Cannabinoids act as powerful antioxidants, and help neutralize free radicals, calm inflammation, and protect your cells — sometimes even more effectively than classic antioxidants like vitamins C & E. Why the patent?
Researchers realized cannabinoids could protect your cells and brain. That's why the government and pharma positioned early to secure rights for medicinal use.
That’s why I grow my own

Here's a neat little quote from our own U.S. Department of Health and Human Services 252-page report outlining their scientific research on cannabis:
"After assessing all available preclinical, clinical, and epidemiological data, FDA recommends that marijuana be rescheduled from Schedule I into Schedule III of the CSA. Schedule III drugs are classified as having a potential for abuse less than the drugs or other substances in schedules I and II, a currently accepted medical use in treatment in the United States, and moderate or low physical dependence or high psychological dependence that may result from their use. NIDA concurs with this recommendation".

Huberman on Club Random with Bill Maher:
“I'll tell you one thing about cannabis before we wrap. It's likely being rescheduled or has been rescheduled to schedule 3, which means, I was told this today, which means that now it can be explored more thoroughly for potential therapeutic uses.” -@hubermanlab
“I've been exploring it for 45 years, and I'm telling you it's fantastic.” - @billmaher
“Unless someone has a predisposition to psychosis, in which case it can be very dangerous.” -@hubermanlab
“Oh, for fuck's sake. Yes. ‘Unless, unless, unless.’ I mean, do you think smoking a joint every few days is gonna really hurt me?” -@billmaher
“No. But the kid with a predisposition to schizophrenia.” -@hubermanlab
“Okay. Well, okay. I'll keep it away from him.” -@billmaher

Here’s Huberman on Real Time with Bill Maher: “Alcohol is worse than pot.” Was this stoner logic?

@datadomNY Here’s the deal: Habs fans are butthurt about a few things:
- Schaefer beating out Demidov for Calder;
-“WhAT aBoUt HUtSoN” level of jealousy over Schaefer;
- They got fleeced by getting a solid but sub-star in Dobson for Heineman, Eklund and Aitcheson.

@JSchultz44 @WSJ In this synagogue is there any Israeli propaganda? Any meetings focused on Zionism? Are they selling “properties” in occupied land? If so, unfortunately, we can’t distinguish between both. Believe me we’re trying hard.

Relatives of the man who rammed his vehicle into a synagogue outside Detroit were recently killed in Lebanon by an Israeli attack, a local mayor said on.wsj.com/4uKCSs7

@savagematti_ @FundsGreen @PaulJacobsMedia Many identify as Christian Arabs. Assyrian, but not everyone would agrees. Either way, they are culturally, socially and professionally partners with the Detroit Jewish community, which is a great thing.
English

@FundsGreen @PaulJacobsMedia They are Catholic arabs from Iraq who, like other non-muslims, we're force to flee their homes.
English

Totally agree. Didn't mean to imply the new additions would bring them a cup...but they'll be helpful if and when they make a playoff run and bring locker room leadership to supplement young talent. Reminds me of when the wings added Larionov, Shanahan, Larry Murphy in the years leading up to their B2B cups. Isles still need upgrades at top 6 and D.
English

@JSchultz44 @mrkevinconnolly @TheElmonters To be clear this team has no chance of winning a cup so with this defense. The bigger issue I have is the talent identification I would say. Dobson trade was good. , soucy, schen aren’t helping us win a cup. Will those pick idk remains to be seen. They need talent injection.
English

And what? Cost of doing business. I really don’t understand what everyone is upset about. Maybe Darche and the Isles brass know more than we do here on the X? Let’s fucking go boys
Joey Nocera@joe_nocera
$12.5M** but it’s amazing to me that fans would rather resort to crying than understand that Darche got Schenn and signed Pageau because he INTENDS on prospects like eklund eiserman breaking in. As well as Ritchie taking a step. Had he signed a 29 yr old, that blocks the rookies.
English

#Isles trade not that bad tbh. Net $2.5M salary cap hit for a 200lb fwd who is a veteran with a cup. Gave up Drouin who was sadly a huge bust, a late 1st rounder (meh) and a goalie prospect (whatever).
English

Only way I see this making any sense is 50% retention on Schenn's contract and they tossed STL a prospect not named Aicheson, Eklund, Eiserman, or Kvasnicka. He's big veteran who's won a cup. Kinda sorta checks the "more tough guys" box and will be a solid mentor to the younger guys. Still feels like this was massive reach, but we need to know (1) retention amount and (2) name of prosect.
English

Sometimes the best move is no move.
#isles fans what do you think of this? @PizzaSportsGuy @IslesDen @IslesHouse @stefen_rosner

Darren Dreger@DarrenDreger
1st, 3rd and a prospect return for Schenn.
English

No move might be the best move this year. They need a top 6, more muscle and more goal scoring but the price tag seems to include some super-promising core prospects like Eklund/Aitcheson/Eiserman. If they needed one huge pickup to make it deep into May/June, perhaps it’s worth it but that’s not the case.
English

It shouldn't but I don't know the details of this plan 🤷♂️. I'm sure if it impacted ice slots, the Islanders, PAL and Blackbear would all have something to say about it but perhaps it doesn't impact time slots at all. Again, overall sounds like great news for LIU hockey and for hockey on LI generally. Would be really cool if this makes for a more appealing fan experience bc there are plenty of local hockey fans who would attend.
English

@SockDem_ @JSchultz44 @JLazzy23 @LIUMHockey @LIUWHockey @briles15 @TeamECH @MikeMcMahonCHN @collegehockey @LIUAthletics That doesn't change what the kids are using though. Why would it?
