You’ve never been right about anything. Ever. You and your “polls” are laughable. The sheer fact that you assume you have some credibility, from God knows where, but you don’t. Trump isn’t “rushing” a weak Iran deal for midterms—he’s cleaning up the mess from the last Democrat administration’s catastrophic appeasement that funneled billions to terrorists and let them sprint toward a nuke. Demanding they surrender enriched uranium and reopen the Strait of Hormuz isn’t weakness, its strength. Gas prices at the pump, farmers hit by shortages, and energy markets in chaos? Those are Biden-Harris failures Trump is fixing by putting America (and actual leverage) first—not handing out pallets of cash like Obama. Your fear-mongering ignores the obvious: Iran’s regime is the problem, not Trump’s deal-making. Keep coping, Jessica. The results will speak louder than your “hot takes.“

Donald Trump needs a midterms deal more than a nuclear deal and whatever happens in the next few days should be understood in that context. It’s why he is about to give Iran a ton of money to save face as Trump’s approval ratings are as low as ever, gas is 4.50, and our farmers are begging for fertilizer. And it’s pretty clear that Iran no longer believes Trump when he threatens them. Too many tweets and too much punting. It’s a mess that this President can’t get out of.

@geosci_nerd @ScottJenningsKY Have you? I haven’t. I have heard lots of speculation from talking heads, but an actual declaration of victory hasn’t happened. Would you rather do this by economic sanctions and aggressive negotiations or an all out shooting war?

@JackBeckman70 @ScottJenningsKY Because we have heard that the war has been won 10 times this year, yet the strait is closed, and we are hours away from another peace deal. 🫠🫠🫠🫠

After receiving a briefing from a SENIOR Trump Administration official (someone in the know & not just speculating), I can tell you what is actually TRUE about the status of the ongoing Iran negotiations:

And Boise was the second temple in Idaho. We were there when it was built, and I was part of the security team for the dedication and open house. The opposition was pretty organized, not quite like what we are seeing with Fairview Texas, but we had to stand between the protesters and the property.

Jimmy Nakayama was a US soldier in Vietnam, 1965. After being hit in a friendly fire airstrike, Nakayama was rescued by reporter Joe Galloway who described how Jimmy's skin peeled off his legs when he tried to lift him. Nakayama died that week two days shy of 22 and the same we…

If the Corps would teach actual history it would be better. According to them, they did the whole operation in Belleau Wood, that they alone were called teufel honden by the Germans. Fact is, they were a brigade element of the AEF Second Division. Yes, they were there but they weren’t the only ones there. They also tell it the they alone did the island hopping campaign in the Pacific in WWII. Most of the islands were taken by Army troops. Not that many years ago, they had to apologize to the Army for misrepresenting the Chosin Reservoir in Korea. They had claimed that the Army retreat was out of cowardice and the Corps had to save them. The facts didn’t bear that out. The Army was overwhelmed by vastly superior Chinese forces and the Army had to fight their way back.

@MikeRGlenn Size has a lot to do with it. Think about it: the Marines are a Corps. 1 Corps. The Army has how many Corps? How many Corps make an army? How many numbered Armies do we have in the US Army? They think about one Corps, we think about many.

Here's a difference between the #Army and the #Marines: For the #USMC, being in "The Corps" is all-important, regardless of your individual unit. For the Army, the pride comes from your community - airborne, Rangers, cavalry, etc. "The Army" is simply too large to embrace

It’s quite different, and your analogy misses spectacularly. First, you claim that the 2ID wasn’t there, comparing them to the soldiers who loaded supplies, then you try to compare D-Day to the campaign in Belleau Wood. I am comparing what I heard from Marines to what actually happened. When read the report of the battle at Belleau Wood, I see an American Infantry Division with a brigade of Marines. I read that Hill 142 was taken by Marines and Army engineers, with fierce fighting lasting for days. I read of the valor and tenacity displayed by the Marines and soldiers, relieved by Army soldiers and they in turn were relieved by Marines again. That’s a long way from Marines doing it by themselves, nowhere close to the situation at Omaha Beach.

I recently toured the museum at Parris Island, and asked this question. The museum covers the entire history of the Corps. According to the guide, all Marines take the same tour as part of basic training. Marines just do a way better job of teaching their history and instilling pride. They didn’t teach me shit for history in Army basic. Every branch should take notes from the Marine Corps on this.
TiredCadian@TiredCadain777

Why is it that the US Marine corps outright warships Chesty Puller, yet the Army doesn't seem to have anywhere near the same level of reverence for its heroes? Like it wouldn't surprise me if some US Army soldiers don't even know who the hell Audie Murphy is.

@EmmettLaine @Fat_Electrician Maybe because Pointe du Hoc isn’t at Juno beach? That the Canadians weren’t part of the Rangers? The Marines at Belleau Wood were a part of the Army’s 2nd Division, they were not their own command.

@JackBeckman70 @Fat_Electrician What other force entered and captured the woods. Because you’re conflating the larger campaign, with the assault on the woods which is what is taught. You claimed to know how and what the USMC taught but you don’t?..

@EmmettLaine @Fat_Electrician You even repeated the claim that the Corps was the only US force at Belleau Wood, so what are you talking about? If they teach the real story, why did you repeat the wrong one?

@JackBeckman70 @Fat_Electrician Cool, you went out of your way to complain about how the USMC teaches history because your underfunded service doesn’t. If you knew how the USMC teaches BW you’d know that we teach specifically the capture of the woods. No one is disputing that it was a part of a larger campaign

The U.S. 2nd Infantry Division played a pivotal role in the Battle of Belleau Wood during World War I in June 1918. Composed of both the U.S. Army's 3rd Infantry Brigade and the 4th Marine Brigade, the division halted the German spring offensive, suffering heavy casualties while securing a historic victory

@JackBeckman70 @Fat_Electrician Right, they didn’t fight in Belleau Wood. Which is why when the fight in Belleau Wood is taught they aren’t mentioned. For the same reason that the Rangers who took Pointe Du Hoc don’t include the QM corps soldiers who loaded them on ships in ports in the UK as participating.

Unit Citations: In 1952, the commander of the 1st Marine Division, General O.P. Smith, excluded the Army units from the Presidential Unit Citation awarded to the Marines, which caused lasting bitterness among Army veterans. It wasn’t until 1999 that the Army units were awarded the PUC for the Chosin Reservoir action

@ASBaird @wndyW1LL0w That’s the point: hot drinks have been specifically named as coffee and tea. It’s not up to individual interpretation. As for the rest, too many are trying to make Section 89 the whole gospel, which it isn’t.

@wndyW1LL0w Like the words literally say to eat meat sparingly and people are still trying to argue it doesn’t say that. But everyone feels comfortable judging everyone else for how they interpret the phrase “hot drinks”.

@EmmettLaine @Fat_Electrician Right, but those battalions don’t equal their higher headquarters of the 2nd Infantry Division. They were part of the Army’s 2nd Infantry Division, they weren’t there all by themselves

@dsgrosshans @BlastingThrough Because we didn’t have them. They didn’t exist yet. Uparmored HMMWV were being built after we got there. I spent a year there and only used in on the convoy south. We went with what we had, not with what wasn’t available.

I’ve received a lot of feedback on the last two hypotheticals that have potential to lead to moral injury. What do you think of this one about betrayal? A platoon leader is ordered to hold a checkpoint in a high-risk area with inadequate support and outdated equipment, despite repeated requests for reinforcements. Several members of the platoon are killed in an ambush that command "knew was likely" but downplayed. The leader feels betrayed by the chain of command: "They sent us out there like expendable pawns, knowing the risks but lying about the support we'd have." This betrayal erodes loyalty to the military institution and can extend to distrust of government or authority figures in civilian life.

@BlastingThrough Whether that was the command or the company or the platoon leader who made that decision, being butt stroked seemed like a fitting consequence, then going back to the families to explain why they got their soldiers killed.

@BlastingThrough Reminds of accounts of soldiers being found dead at a bridge checkpoint in Iraq. Their unit couldn’t get out of the field exercise mind set, and put three soldiers there to secure the bridge. Next morning they found them dead.
