WSOP - World Series of Poker
Last week, we announced the Dealer Rating System coming to WSOP Live. Here’s the breakdown: we’re adding $100,000 in rewards for top rated dealers this summer. For each bracelet event, the top rated dealers will earn: 1st: $500 2nd: $300 3rd: $200 That’s $1,000 per bracelet event across 100 bracelet events. We heard the concern: “What if one tilted player gives a bad rating after a bad beat?” Ratings refresh for every event. Each bracelet event is a clean slate, and no unfair rating follows a dealer for the whole summer. For dealers, this program is only upside: a fresh chance every event to be recognized and rewarded. The goal is simple: reward the dealers who help make WSOP great.

@BudManStream @WSOP The average weighted rake for the 100 events at WSOP in 2025 was 9.3%. I would not call that excessive. (total buyins/total rake)

@WSOP WSOP already takes insane rake out of every tourney Are they going to now increase that rake even more to pay for this? Honestly with how greedy the rake is I find it hard to believe WSOP would cut into their own pocket to pay for this. Even if 100k is absolutely nothing to them

@Jason1232925235 @NadyaKGB @SHRHollyPoker You have to download the WSOP+ app to register to play. Rating the dealer will be easy and a good thing. Undeserved bad and good ratings can easily be filtered out once the data is collected to get a true dealer skill rating. A win for players and good dealers.

@NadyaKGB @SHRHollyPoker I feel like a dealer rating system would suck because if a dealer does a good job I’m not going to download an app and rate them but if they’re trash I might. It just seems like it’s going to be mostly negative feedback and if you have a bad day it might cost you your job.

WSOP dealer rating system: not sure it’ll work. I tried to run something similar this year at @SHRHollyPoker, the results were disappointing. It turned out to be a popularity contest. Headphones: integrity of the game is of the utmost importance. If it takes a ban, so be it

@FarazJaka Yes, ratings are a good thing. Poor ratings due to bad beats can easily be filtered out after analyzing the data. Clearly, if a dealer gets 95% 5 stars and 5% 1 star, the 1 stars are coming from players who took a bad beat. Very easy to filter out.

Seeing a lot of players say the new WSOP dealer rating system is “dumb” because salty players will give bad ratings after running bad. As a business owner obsessed with metrics/data, I completely disagree, and it’s not even close. Noisy data is still extremely valuable at scale. The idea that some miserable players will irrationally rate dealers poorly isn’t some fatal flaw. That noise largely averages out over large enough sample sizes. Great dealers and terrible dealers will still separate from the pack over time. That’s what matters. Businesses almost never have perfect data. They care about relative performance and trend movement. Example: When we look at email click data it's full of fake clicks from virus scanners auto-clicking links. Does that make email metrics useless? Of course not. If your campaigns suddenly go from 150 clicks to 250 clicks consistently, you clearly improved something, even if the absolute numbers are inflated. Same concept here, except the ratings may be deflated. Even if emotionally driven ratings lowered the “true” dealer average from what should be 4.0 stars to 3.0 stars… who cares? WSOP likely isn’t looking for a mathematically pure score. They should be looking for: - Which dealers consistently stand out at the top - Which dealers consistently stand out at the bottom - Whether training/protocol changes improve dealer ratings. - Which managers/recruiters consistently provide higher than average dealers That’s all extremely valuable information. Online poker pros have heard bad players make irrational arguments for years about why PokerTracker stats “hurt their game.” Experienced players understand that more information > less information, as long as you understand how to interpret the noise.

@Grudek93 @FarazJaka pay at wsop is GOOD. $32 to $43/hr. The problem is they need too many dealers...2000 and there are not 2000 full time good dealers to staff. So they have to take workers who have non-dealing jobs to fill. wynn may pay a bit more, so they can cherry pick the top but only need 20%

@BobMatherPoker @WSOP Rating dealers is a good thing. More pay will not get better dealers bcuz the issue is there are not 1600-2000 quality dealers. The rating system will at least hopefully remove the most unqualified dealers.

🚨 Everyone is LOSING IT over the new @WSOP Dealer Rating System 🔥 Table talk is brutal. Online comments are savage. “Players will just 1-star dealers after every bad beat” I get the fear… if they acted on ratings hourly or daily, it would be toxic. But over a full week or the entire 6-week series? They will be statistically insignificant… One tilted 1-star gets buried under hundreds of real ratings. That data becomes powerful — rewarding the best dealers with bonuses & prime spots while raising the bar for everyone. Uber, Lyft, and Airbnb made this model work. WSOP is finally doing the same. Dealers already grind the hardest job in poker. I’m all for anything that recognizes the great ones and improves live poker for all of us. @llewisspencer This will not be a problem. If a good dealer has 97% 5 ratings and 3% 1, it is clearly due to jerks who gave him/her a 1 for a cooler. A simple filter of the top x% and bottom x% will give a true rating. x% to be determined by the data. Dealer ratings are a great idea!

This has so many problems I cannot even fit them into a single tweet, but nobody should be okay with a dealer not getting rewarded compared to their colleagues because they dealt a disproportionate amount of coolers to people in the seniors tournament or the colossus or whatever.

@_danhell Pay is not the issue. It is just impossible to find 1500-2000 dealers. So most are just taking a break from their restaurant or teaching job as the pay is GOOD! ($32-$43/hr). Sure Wynn pays a bit more, but they only need 20% as many so they can cherry pick the top dealers first.

I don’t see how this is useful. WSOP already knows who their good dealers are. Floors and DCs track this all summer. Why not just pay your dealers commensurately for skill, years worked, or the responsibility they’re entrusted with? Bonuses are nice. Raises, likely more effective

@JoshuaArieh @WSOP @alcorn_heather Rating is a great idea. Pay is not the issue. Pay is good $32 to $43/hr. Sure Wynn pays a bit more and they get better dealers, but they can be choosy only needing 1/5 as many dealers as WSOP. Most wsop dealers love the money and then go back to their restaurant or teaching job.

The perfect @wsop poker dealer should go unnoticed. Good game flow, little talking, no mistakes. Dealing is extremely hard. This dealer rating system has me very excited. I will be doing it EVERY down. Maybe @alcorn_heather can tell us how she would use the rating system? The better feedback we provide, the quicker the dealing will improve.

@jeremyausmus Pay is not the issue. Avg wsop pay is $32 to $42/hr. That is good money! That is why so many want to deal it. The problem is there are not 1600-2000 dealers available. So you get restaurant workers and school teachers on break to fill the void.

I saw a lot of negative comments about the new dealer rating system at WSOP this year. It's true we don't know what exactly they will do with this data, but I'd think they are creating it to do something actionable. The argument of players rating dealers bad because they dealt them a cooler are going to be very few and far between imo. Also, those will be spread amongst all dealers and should mostly even out. The bigger problem tho is being able to obtain enough high quality dealers. For this, I'd assume the pay has to increase and/or the training improved. I've been saying for 10+ years how much better the dealers are when you are outside of the US. Seems to be a tough problem to solve but hopefully they find a way. Some US venues have figured it out, obviously on a much smaller scale. So will the rating system solve all of the WSOP dealer problems? No. Is it a step in the right direction? I think so.

@TexasKimPoker @WSOP @WPT I disagree. WSOP pay averages $33 to $42/hr. That is good money. That is why you get so many weak dealers; they can't pass up the pay. Most are not dealers and go back to their regular job as resturant worker or school teachers in the fall.

There’s an obv solve to the @WSOP dealer problem. The pay for dealers working the series must be better. WSOP downs are by far the worst downs on the strip & even the @WPT has found a way to pay exceptionally well for their events. The best dealers in the world refuse to work the most prestigious event of the year - why do you think this is? It has never made sense to me that green dealers fresh out of school get paid the same as dealers such as @DomJSII who have worked for 10-20yrs and have dealt every feature table imaginable. I have always suggested tiered pay scales based on skills, experience and knowledge of all the games. Require an audition style and written quiz that has to be passed to advance to the next tier. Bring a system like this and exceptional dealers from all over the country will return to work this prestigious event. Until then, you get what you [don’t] pay for and a rating system is definitely not the fix. @phil_hellmuth @RealKidPoker @jeffplatt @tjreidpoker @WSOPTD

That is enough for 262,000 crumbs for each of the 8 billion humans. So a loaf of bread is NOT scarce! It is also a pure scam. Only use case for feeding pigeons.
