@SitRagnar @DJ_ILLIN_PAIN I thought he said he was not gonna have a happy ending. Not that he is evil. He's a tragic character. A decent man turned monster because of how he looks. The end of Storm is him beginning to accept the monster people think he is and Dance is him beginning to act on it.

@DJ_ILLIN_PAIN I’m about to read the last book. GRRM said Tyrion is his most evil character I think read, so he must do something crazy in that book or he’s foreshadowing, because I don’t see it yet. He did get slightly weird with Sansa, but was fairly decent.

@sea_mock @FBallAnalysisYT Caleb Downs is awesome but man, getting one of the best maybe top 5 tackles in the NFL is absolutely worth it. You need to get guys who are great now. We don't really know what Downs is gonna be as a rookie. They can not waste another season.

@PlatoonPod I instinctively just stop engaging with someone the minute they say "It's a kids movie." They just aren't critical thinkers. Same with "It's a horror movie/game." "It's a movie about space wizards." Etc.

"It's for kids" — so were Peter Pan, Beauty & the Beast, Toy Story, Incredibles, Narnia, The Hobbit, The Little Mermaid, and so on down a very long list of brilliant stories. "It's like they wanted [good writing]" — I would've settled for something that at least matched the story of the Super Mario Galaxy game, which a lot of this movie's defenders were apparently too dim to notice. "It's like they were expecting [a brilliant movie]" — see above. Apparently, even matching the story quality of the last Mario movie was too much to ask. "It was never intended to be [great], I thought it was great" — either it isn't great and that doesn't matter, or it is great and you should argue for its quality. Make up your mind. "Loads of fan service" — believe it or not, you can have fan service AND a good story. I'm getting bored of making this point: nobody loses if the writing is better. This hostility to the application of basic creative standards says a lot more about you than it does the critics.

It's mental that people are heavily critiquing The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. It's a kids film, I took my 5yo son to see it today and he LOVED it. It's like they wanted shocking drama, gut wrenching monologues, life lessons, deep metaphors. It's a slightly chubby Italian plumber and his brother in their overalls, on an adventure with a screaming mushroom. That's literally all that matters. It was never intended to be Shawshank Redemption or Ben Hur, was it? I thought it was great, loads of fan service, and introduced a new generation to the amazing Fox McCloud/Star Fox 💙

I'm pretty sure the Mario Galaxy movie is just a cheaper and more socially acceptable version of giving ecstasy to kids. Cash-grabs when I was a baby meant stuff like Pokémon: The First Movie, which is basically Shakespeare by comparison. Yes, even the dub. It being a kids/game movie is not an excuse. If the games were this uninspired we would not now be getting movie adaptations.
