His instincts are exactly right: If cities aren't building, no amount of money will solve the problem. Funding priority should be tied to outcomes.

“I am not asking — I am begging.” Big city California mayors were in Sacramento today urging Gov. @GavinNewsom and lawmakers to approve $1 billion for homelessness programs (HHAP)—warning shelters could close without it. Newsom’s budget proposes $500 million. He suggested he’s holding there for now, citing frustration with cities like LA not complying with SB 79, the state law requiring more high-density housing near transit. "You don't build, we're not going to fund," Newsom said. Watch below:

@michaelrbock @claudeai @turbotax @AnthropicAI Issue is major risk if it makes a mistake. Likely even less possibility of explaining a honest mistake since there is no preparer. You are the preparer using tools. Great to try if you have a simple return though as a starting point.

I've been working on tax software for the past 5 years. This is the last year anyone will have to pay for TurboTax. You can try it yourself today: - add the Aiwyn Tax connector inside of Claude (link below) - give it access to your tax documents (W-2s, etc.) - ask Claude to prepare your tax return ...and that's it!

@realsaadasad Whether affordable or market, the demand is massive. We can't build a few hundred or thousand units. We likely needs millions of new units rather quickly in order to truly turn this shortage around.

5,000 families applied for 100 affordable units in Rancho Bernardo — 4,900 went without. The project is proof that transit-oriented affordable housing works in San Diego. It's also proof that relying solely on affordable housing, against a 124,000-person waitlist, isn't a housing policy.

@CepnikMaciej The state controls its fiat and cash. Tightly so. Privacy isn't perfect when trying to actually spend it either. Lots of KYC checks beyond banks. From buying a car to buying a house, to moving the paper money across borders or regions.

@CepnikMaciej To be clear. Fiat is not entirely autonomous. India invalidated some of its largest paper money bills in circulation with no prior notice.

Mexico’s government just said it wants to make digital payment mandatory at gas stations and highway tolls. 🇲🇽❌💵 That is a dangerous path. It is more centralized, less inclusive, and gives the state more visibility and control over the everyday lives of regular citizens. In Mexico, a large share of the population remains outside the formal banking system. Around 37% of adults aged 18–70 do not have a formal banking account, according to ENIF 2024. For many people, cash is not a preference; it's the only option. If every payment for gasoline and tolls must be digital, then access to mobility becomes dependent on the banking system. And that means this government, or a future one, has far more power to monitor, restrict, or freeze your economic life. Bitcoin is the alternative Mexicans should take seriously. It is digital money, but it preserves the most important property of cash: nobody can stop a Bitcoin transaction. If we want a healthier balance of power between citizens and the state, Mexico needs more monetary sovereignty, not less.
